I actually made a Lotus Tile a few years back (I'm a little late to this thread I know )
The only issue I have with it now was the color choice, the pale yellow isn't exactly there. I cut the tile itself from mahogany and then painted the lotus onto it and brushed lacquer over the piece to seal it.
I have just what your looking for to add to your costume. A real life returning Sokka boomerang. I created this a few months ago. Here is a video and photo of the flight. Hope you like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAm9nCeyfwM
RPF lurker finally registered
I did a Sokka boomerang commission for someone a few years ago. If anyone is interested here are some pictures:
I made it from regular 3/4" pine that I cut into two pieces and made a half-lap sort of miter joint so that the joint would miss the small hole. Then I cut the profile on a band saw and shaped the "blades" with a 1/2" pnematic belt sander to get close and then hand rasps and files, and finally sanded to 220 to prime and paint. Easy straightforward build, but I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. The only thing that was slightly "tricky" was getting the angle on the top blade to look right since the bevel changes from back to front.
Painted it white with spray paint, then matched the blue in acrylic and finally clear coated it with a satin sheen.
