Audrey II, a WIP - and some ideas needed

Hey gang,

This is the Audrey II that Beeb and blufive offered way back when. I finally had some time off from other projects and got around to painting it.

The painting is primarily done, all acrylics, a mixture of Tamiya and Testors Model Masters paints.

The head isn't attached yet, so that I can add leaves and whatnot. Once I have everything where I want it, I'll then permanently attach it.

What I'd like, is some suggestions on the stuff that goes in the can and the leaves that go around her head. From those that have built this prior, what did you guys use? Can you suggest something specific, or is it just walking around Michael's looking for random plants? I'd rather not spend $50 on fake plants if all I need is 3 leaves, if you get my point.

Thanks,

Fred

Great paint job, buddy! I'm diggin' that blood droplet on the tongue. :)

Here's what I used for the leaves and details on the plant head...

For the details on the plant head, I used a pale rose found at Micheal's. I painted the pedals to match the ones seen in the film. I used the the "leaves" things at the base of the rose for the base of Audrey. I can't recall the branch that I found at Micheal's that I used for the leaves that are curving back away from the head but if you look around, I'm sure you can find something close if not the real deal. :)
I used an ivy wreath found at Wal-Mart for the three leaves at the base. If you'll notice, there are different sizes of leaves, use the smaller one for the sides and the larger one for the back. I airbrushed a little yellow on the leaves and added the orange dots using "puff paint". You'll want to hit those leaves with workable fixative, gives a nice sheen to them. Also, on that same wreath, you'll see little vines, you can use those for the vines coming out in front of the pot.
I used spanish moss for the top of the pot. Use the small round styrofoam disks, (both of these are found at Wal-Marts btw), to fill the pot. You'll need to trim them down a bit. Also, you'll want to add a little clay or something at the bottom of the pot so it's not too top heavy.

Hope all this helps! :)

Can't wait to see her finished!

Very nice job indeed! That's way better than the one we bought for a stage production back in college. We spent a few hundred bucks and it looked like a blob of green paper-maché.

Thanks, guys :cool

Beeb, I don't have a wal-mart around these parts, so I'm going to have to hope that Michael's carries some of these things :)
