AT-AT walking model

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

Its got to be a LEGO kit coversion....or some 4 legged ROBOT thats available.

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

There are a few 'walking' dinosaur toys available, I bet they took the parts from one of those.

It's either 4 motors controlled with a mini-computer system or one motor on a rotation mechanical gearbox to drive each leg.

The head sweeps to change the center of gravity and keep the model stable as the front leg on the opposite side is lifted.

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

That's not Lego's, but a custom system. That's the first model of the guy btw, awesome !
2 years ago he said he would say how it works, but nothing yet :lol

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

THat was very cool, it took me a while before I realized it wasn't stop motion. I didn't realize how small the thing was until I watched another vid and saw it was about 1/2 - 1/3 (guessing) the size of the studio scale model.

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

Damn my son came in as I was watching that. Im screwed now! You can guess what he said... That is just wicked. What kit was that or was it a scratch build?

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

Considering all the robo-toys out there already,
surprised they haven't mass marketed this by now.

Re: AT-AT wlaking model

That's pretty Effing amazing! It be a great conversuions to a 1/48 SMT At-At.I'd love to kow how that was done,I'm simply not that clever.

It is a scratchbuilt (that's what he said) and it's not R/C.

Could you imagine the time and money ILM would have saved with this kind of stuff ? :lol

MPC way back in the early 80's had "wind up" kits. One was the At-At,but it was a small kit and it didn't "walk" like his does in the video.Hey bashed something with his scratch build/modified MPC kit or something? Its awsome!
