AT-AT diorama - FINISHED PAGE 6!!!

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

FANTASTIC! Damn if you were in EU I would buy an AT-AT like this and send it to you for weathering effect.

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

Thanks! It took a long time to do the painting but I am happy with how they are turning out. I'm going to be gloss varnishing certain parts to show oil runs (in the knees perhaps) and I still need to add snow to them.

Here's one last one showing the side of the walker. I'll do some proper photographs once the diorama is done.

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

Thank you for sharing your weathering technique with the pastels. The results look absolutely wonderful.

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

Your tiny washes with primary colors is really a good idea, this completely breaks the unformity of grey and gives a nice touch.

Bravo

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

Thanks cabour! Looking at screenshots from the film it is surprising how much colour they have. It is also good if you can't decide what colour grey to use!

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

Thank you for sharing your painting technique. I will try to use this as a guide in painting my AT-AT. And great work on your models. One of the best AT-AT I ever seen in that scale.

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

Thanks Jun, I check your blog often. The Revell one you are doing - will it be suitable for stop motion?

Well its fully articulated so I can display it in different positions. Maybe it can be use also for stop motion just for fun. :)

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

I'd definitely try and animate it - would be crazy not to at least try! Can't wait to see more updates on yours :)

Re: AT-AT diorama WIP

So, the AT-ATs are basically done and I now move on to the anti-infantry turrets.
At first I thought I'd do an interpretation of them, but the second I did them all I wasn't satisfied, so I carefully stripped off the detail and did them again

^ The original is on the left and my interpretation on the right. - Not very accurate and I keep using that weird triangular piece on the top of the turret because I have thousands of them. The pink thing is a sequin I found which has a decent hexagonal shape.

^ Second time through I am much more happy. They are not perfectly accurate, but they are passable for the amount of detail I want to put into them.

Added a little bit of detail to the sides of the turrets

^ I'll probably stamp on one and make it battle-damaged :)

^ Gonna have a trooper dude poking his head out of this one!

^ Did a quick photoshop cut-out. The macro on my camera is not very good.

Now, on with the rebel dudes and their uniforms!

Thanks for looking
