the colors of the Red 2 droid unit?

Wasn't Obi-Wan's R4?
I would guess that in the time frame, with money seemingly no problem, the droids did match their ships as as way to quickly identify them, perhaps?

You're asking about a model kit though, right?

The actual number of the droid is R4-P17, in case you were wondering.
