Are there young male action heroes in 2024?

I will agree with Michael B Jordan, I forgot about him! He was good in that Tom Clancy Without Remorse movie, but I wish they would have kept him era correct. John Clark should be a Vietnam era SEAL, not modern.

Oh man, "Without Remorse" was one of my fave books. That movie was NOT Without Remorse.

When he dressed as a bum for a scene was about as close as they got.

Still a decent flick, love MBJ, but I REALLY love the John Clark of the book.

I often wonder if it's as good as I remember... I told my buddy to read it a while back and he thought it was trash, haha.

Dude's killing pimps and then rescuing a POW! TRASH?!?!

I wanted to see John Clark take his hooker GF out to show him where the pimps were, get ambushed, then go on a crazy revenge crusade once healed.

Maybe I'll read again...

Off to amazon.

. . . or so they claim. I think lately TRT has been used as an excuse to cover for stronger stuff in the celebrity world.

Look at Jeff Bezos's transformation in his late 50s. He says it's TRT alone. Riiiiiight.

I looked into TRT at a time (when I turned 45) and opted out... but it did sound like it could do quite a number. Especially on my Dutch farmer genes.

It can get scrawny guys to looking like a jacked natural... so if you're a good natural it could turn you into Star Lord. I mean Pratt is a big guy naturally who loved food and beer... his physique could be just TRT.

Hemsworth? Hmmmmm.... Tom Hardy?! HMMMMMMMM. (I saw you as Shinzon in Trek... you're on more than TRT)

TRT's effect can be significant but Jeff Bezos's transformation looks beyond it to me. He was a pretty small-framed guy before.

Hemsworth, Hardy, Hugh Jackman, Chris Evans . . . I doubt a lot of these modern actors are natural just because of schedules. They seem to gain & lose several years of gym progress in a matter of months from one movie to another.

Chris Pratt? I dunno. What else has he been in besides "Jurassic" and Star Lord? He seems to look buff but not too huge. If he's not yo-yo-ing up and down between movies then he might be natural.

I could care less if an actor takes all the drugs to get jacked, they are not competing athletes . That is the job, I think trying to deny it is the problem. If I was an actor and they offered me batman for 20 mil....next day I'm on everything I can get my hands on.

No male action stars in 2024, you say? Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Move over Stallone, Ford, McQueen, Bronson, Connery, Eastwood, Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, and Lee…Timothy is taking names and cracking skulls.

I saw a video talking about how The Fall Guy movie flopped and I have to think Ryan Gosling might be part of the reason. Granted The Fall Guy wasn't even in my top ten list of 80s shows. I think of Ryan Gosling as more of a pretty boy, not an action hero. It got me thinking where are the current young male action heroes? The only current ones I can think of are Keanu Reeves (59) and Henry Cavill (41). There's no young actors in the vein of Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood, Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Chuck Norris, Arnold, Stallone, etc. They are all pretty boys. Heck, why aren't they sticking Scott Eastwood in more movies? I saw him in a Afghan war era movie and he was really good. I'm not sure if he's trying to stay away from doing things that look like he's trying to be his dad or what. He's a pretty good actor.
It's today's hollywood, if you aren't pretty, they're (studios) not interested.

The only Tom Clancy book I've read is Rainbow Six, which is freaking awesome. I plan on going back and reading some of the books with Clark and the other characters, but never got around to it yet.

reference Pratt; check out The Terminal List (TV show) and The Tomorrow War.

Movies are getting boring anyway. Everything has been done. And when someone tries to remake an older movie, it's still typically boring.

Novels are the only thing left because while even that's feels so incredibly repetitious, our brains need to interpret and imagine what we're reading. It's still engaging.

Action movies. Meh. Getting boring. And specifically the OP desire to see more young men in action roles is equally boring. I also presume they mean white as well.
You sound really bored, you should touch some grass.I agree with you about Novels stimulates they brain and help with imagination.Sadly most of the new generation can't read or comprehend books unless it has pictures.

Lazy lefty loopy loonies run Hollywood, that's all ya' need to know...as to juiced up actors, they are zapped to the gills...I'ts NOT chicken and rice , don't waste time on the Thor or whatever workout, that's not what they actually do ! The half cardio crap they show wouldn't build any muscle. Also the fake diets never include the chemical soup they are inflating themselves with on a daily basis !

I think there's a miss-conception, from the part of the movie audience, regarding "Young Male Action Heroes" and "Character Actors".

Has Chalamet ever been in a movie where he’s facing off with baddies that are supposed to shake in their boots?

Seems people here are casting him in roles he’s not going for…

It’s like a thread on “are there any hot Bond girls anymore?!” Then posting pics of Maise Williams.

“Oh I’m sure James would be hard AF at the very thought of bedding her!”

Just a comparison to the roid bloat usual action stars...ya know, a bit of something that's not very popular right now called FUN ! Give it a try everybody...And yes, his enemies are supposed to fear him in Dune ! I'm pleased they made this new version as it gave us the great song Heaven Drips, the best thing to come out of this morbid emo movie !

But...Dune isn't an action film.

I mean, you guys are asking "Where are the young action stars?" and while I admittedly haven't read thru every single response, did anyone think to look at all the comic book movies of the last 15 years? I mean...do they just not count? Or is it that the stars aren't in their 20s or 30s?

I mean, Stallone was 39 when he made Rambo II. He was 36 when he made First Blood (which really is an amazing film and way more grounded).

Steve McQueen was 38 when he made Bullitt. He was 42 when he made The Getaway.

Kurt Russel was 30 when Escape from New York came out. He was 38 when Tango & Cash came out. Stallone was 43.

Eastwood was 36 when he made The Good The Bad & The Ugly. He didn't do the first Dirty Harry film until he was 41.

Arnold was 35 when he made his breakout hit Conan the Barbarian. He was 37 when The Terminator came out. He was 40 when Predator came out.

You guys are sitting here dissing all these young dudes, saying how they're all skinny, not like your action heroes of yore, and wondering where all the young action heroes are...but the guys you're comparing them to weren't "action heroes" until they were at least 30.

Let's get some perspective here, people.
