Apollo A7L Moon Suit

That metalcast "faux anodizing" product works very well, even at 5 degrees celcius had no problems...

I used the metal cast base coat and there was no bubbles or running etc.

Looks fantastic!!! I think I may have had troubles with the bubbling as I sprayed it on really thick which gave a much better end result but had to sand and reapply sever times to get a nice smooth finish.

Anyone know what diameter of the acrylic sphere I need for the LEVA? Have not been able to find anything online so far.

If you are planning on using a sphere for the LEVA, it is not a true spherical shape. This is the single biggest mistake people make in replicating these suits. The LEVA shell as well as the visors, are a lesser radius left to right, than it is front to back, and the sides, at the pivot are flat.

I dont have the capability to vacuum form (experience or tooling). Unless so.eone does a LEVA run I'm SOL then.

Got some 20-24AWG pins in the mail yesterday, here they are fitted into the electrical connector:

I wasn't able to fit the proper number of connectors into this piece as they are too large, but the smallest I could source. So I went for an "idealized" part with all the holes filled with a connector. Should pass a casual glance, and looks a sight better than the sanded down craft wire.

The data connector is looking fantastic!!! The connector insert really adds to it. Can I please grab a link to where you got it from and if it's not too hard the width of it? I've been trying to locate something similar but they are all too wide. Thanks

I whipped it up myself in 3D Studio and printed it on my resin printer. I can send you the stl if you have access to a resin printer, or I would be happy to print one out for you. I also have left over pins...

The insert is 18mm across which fits just nice in Ken's electrical connector.

Thanks heaps Kokanee for the offer. Much appreciated. I already have the data connector printed and painted but was after the insert. I am in Australia so would love to source something local as shipping would be too expensive. Every time I look at eBay for round pin connectors they either have too few pins or are too small/large. Would you be kind enough to share the link you got it from so that I can search for something similar locally? Cheers

Thanks heaps Kokanee. Much appreciated. I've been looking for a complete plug to fit in the data connector which has proven to be impossible to find one that's suitable. Great idea on the insert print and just using the pins. Thanks again.

Yeah no worries! Insert the pins from the rear (superglue them in), then put a dab of hot glue at the bottom of the data connector and place the insert inside it.

Could I ask where you got your o rings? What size are they? Thanks.

Sure. I got them from eBay. Here is the link of the exact ones that I got;

The couplings that I printed were from a different source to yours so sizing might be different. I just got a ruler and measured the width and diameter I needed. The one that was perfect for me were 37mm x 3.1mm and they fit like a dream. Incase your measurements are different there are lots of different o-ring sizings on eBay. Hope this helps.
