AOU Iron Man mark 45 suit RE-BUILD page 4

Re: AOU Iron Man mark 45 suit Progress

Glad to see you back in business, would be cool if we could all meet up with the suits some day.

Looking back on it, I wish I had started from the boot up. I forgot, are you printing ABS or PLA on the boot?

thanks! yeah that would be cool! im printing pla just prefer it to abs.. i had a lot of problems with the cod peice fitting the chest and back when wearing it it did not line up at all but was perfect when assembled on floor its that ass shape aint no-one got that body shape lol so i will allow for that this time around! ..starting from boots up has given me a new out look on redoing the suit again i love problem solving been thinking about this part for a while one of the main things i hate about iron man amour is the shin rubbing away at the boots soooo im trying new ideas :)

Happy to see you back on this suit! I'm hoping to see someone complete their printed XLV builds with all these threads lately. I spent so much time messing with scaling before printing-yeah the cod+abs+back torso was a pain in the butt to scale to my body. Printing Chest parts now, but dreading the thought of torso parts not fitting to the chest after god knows how many hours on the printer. Crossed fingers. Definitely hard lessons learned.

Re: AOU Iron Man mark 45 suit Progress

Question- and this might be more of a general armor building question, how secure are your joint connections? Whether they be glued velcro, piano wire, thin rubber strips, brackets, etc. I was wondering about the boot/shin issue as well. Exploring options to secure strong joints that still allow a good range of articulation, worried about adhesion failing during use though.

I use Resin and cloth over all my joints the same as i would if it were pepakura...its strong enough imo just experiment maybe you can find a different solution thats what makes it fun

Do you guys know what is the default size of the 3d files in height ?

My 3D file came scaled as large as a Lego.

So just scale the entire suit to your own height anyway. It's better to measure twice and scale once than the other way around

The thing I hate is that im 18 and im still growing a lot ahahah so im scared that my suits wont fit me for long
