Anyone seen actual Commlock & Stungun from Product Enterprise?

I see this is now listed on ebay and seller says he has in hand but he won't post pics of the actual item. so I am wondering if anyone has seen this out of the box and if they fixed some of the small gaffs on prototype -- most notably, tajking off the two black vent lines from bottom front portion of commlock.

According to the post at Eagle Transporter they are still "on the boat" and no one has gotten them yet.

Well, the guy who has them listed on ebay is in UK and he says he has them in hand but will not open them to check to see what they actually look like -- he is using stock photos of the prototype item on his listing, so there isn't any way to tell what the actual pieces truly look like.

My Commlock and stungun set arrived today. I'm a tad disappointed.

I am not as hardcore as many of y'all, so I am generally quite pleased with my replicas. I love all of my MR replicas as well as all my Eagles (12" and 23") from PE. I had hoped that the commlock and stungun would feel MR-ish in quality and detail. And they're not terrible, just a bit disappointing to me.

A few specifics:
  • Both items are lighter weight than I had hoped. Definitely a hollow plastic heft.
  • No real flaws on either piece except that one of the silver disks on the commlock had come off -- and had been glued on rather poorly in the first place.
  • The "viewscreen" of the commlock looks cheap. It looks like a sticker under a piece of clear plastic. That's what it is, of course, but no subtlety of manufacturing was used to make it seem nicer.
  • The beam emitters on the stungun look like chromed plastic rather than metal. I actually like the metal emitters on some of my cheap resin kits better than these.
  • The acrylic case is ok but not great. Unlike the MR cases which have curved acrylic to improve the view from the front, this one is five flat pieces of acrylic with a corner seam on each edge. Not terrible, just not quite as nice as I had hoped.
  • The trigger on the stungun depresses nicely. Feels like a spring switch inside. The horrible "Stun/Kill" switch on the top is tight but slides to either position. (the implementation is not horrible, it's the design of that switch that I hate)
I'm still glad I got them. Considering that the pair of props together cost far less than a single similar MR prop costs, I guess I shouldn't complain.

Thanks for the review. I am in line for a group buy, so I won't have my set for another 3 to 5 weeks.

Your review seems consistent with what others are reporting -- the props are fairly accurate but lighter in weight than expected and details and overall fit and finish make them seem more like very nicely done, but expensive, toys as opposed to more higher-end prop replicas.

Of course, the props used int he actual TV series were likely not a far cry different -- in fact, many of the background props were likely much rougher looking.

I'll also write a review and post pictures when my set arrives.

OK, here are some photos of my stungun and commlock. Now that I have had them for 24 hours I am feeling a little less dissapointed with them. I think they may look better in the photos than in real life.

Good pics! So, what don't you like about them?

Do they feel cheap or something?

They are very lightweight and the chrome parts do look a little cheap.

I think maybe I'm being too hard on them, though. I just remember how my MR TOS phaser looked and felt when I first took it out of the box. But then, that was a different price point, too.

These are growing on me.

I just received mine today, #413 (bought from FAB Gear, GREAT service) and I really could not be happier with them. Maybe the details are off a bit and maybe they're not. I have yet to see any two original props from the show that match each other in details.

Two nicely finished props, (weight of them did not not bother me at all) stands for the props, plaque, and a nice case all for $325. To me that seems like a pretty good deal considering how much I’ve paid in the past for a single prop.

As I stated earlier in this thread, the comlock would have been fine had they left off the two black horizontal lines on the lower section above the circle graphic. I have watched every episode many times and watched for the comlock scenes (yeah, I know, I'm a geek) and I NEVER saw these lines on this lower section.

I could go on about a few other details, but as you and I and others have mentioned, the other control buttons and pin-striping varied from prop to prop. But for $300, they should have known better than to put the two aforementioned black stripes on. The reason I even bring this up again isn't to keep whining about it, but it still puzzles me WHY they would have put them on there to begin with. If you don't believe me, watch the episodes for yourself...or google "comlock" or "commlock" and in less than 20 minutes, you will find reference of the actual set used pieces, non of which show these silly stripes.

Despite my complaining, I do plan to buy a set. But if you want pieces that are 100% accurate, you'll either have to augment these pieces or augment somebody elses.

I'll do a full review when I get my set, and I can compare the sidkit stun gun to this one as I still own the sidkit....I sold of my sidkit comlock a while back as I believe it is too small. I ordered one from CY Productions (which claims to be made off a stunt or background comlock) and modified it a bit to match a few details CY didn't get right, mainly the two buttons on the side beneath the speaker -- the silver and black buttons. On the actual prop, both are almost flush with the body. I bought an old control knob from electronics supply store and popped off the top metal insert -- it is a dead match for what they used on prop. I used another one, just painted it black, for the second knob.

So, while they appear to be very nice repros, you would hope that for $300+ -- or for even anything over $100 -- they would get ALL the details correct, especially the easy ones. Or, if nothing else, perhaps they could show the props they used (or the reference photos) of the props they used as a guide. Heck, maybe there WAS one single comlock that had those silly vent lines. :)

Not saying you don’t have a valid point. :)

They say it’s a season 2 Comlock I would look through season 2 but I just find it too painful. :lol

These may be a bit off but remember that a lot of people paid $500 (way more on ebay) for a Master Replicas TOS Phaser that was a bit off, I still love the replica but it is what it is.
