Anyone planning on picking up the Target Helmets and "improving" on them?

Ok, so to be clear, the tfa stormtrooper helmet is not the correct size. Is this true.
what about the kylo helmet. I was thinking about all 3 including the fett. Vader is not coming home with me. Not a fan at all, besides I already have the supreme rubies that I will modify.

Fett has already been confirmed to be close to original size from comparison photos. But what about the trooper and kylo?

The Boba helmet is about as dead-on, size-and-detail-wise, as one can expect when it's a symmetrical helmet and the original totally wasn't. The "keyslots" are the right size and spacing, just need to be opened up. The connector on the right cheek is in the right place and is the right size -- but is the wrong type. But there are many cast-resin and 3D-printed replacement options out there -- you just need to drill out the one on the helmet. The slot in the left mandible needs to be filled and re-done, but that's minor, and understandable (necessities of injection-molding). For me, it's on par with their Supreme Edition Royal Guard helmet -- another offering where I went "wait... Rubies did this?!"

The First Order Stormtrooper is 85% full-scale. It's visibly small sitting on teh shelf, and it's even more glaring next to a 1:1 replica. Great for big kids or very petite adults, with some work.

Someone else will have to chime in on the Vader, and there's a lot upthread devoted to comparisons of the carious Kylos out there. You're just gonna have to read through it. It's not my area of interest, so while I remember what was being said, none of it stuck.

I'd love for someone to put the Kylo Ren helmet from prop shop next to the black series so I can see how close they are... Adam savage mentioned the prop shop was quiet close to a modified black series.

CV04eaVUYAAl2we.jpgI just found a picture of a rubies and black series side by side comparison and the rubies is larger. Quite a noticeable difference. Also the finish of the black series looks much better and more definition. I will try a post the picture but it is not mine.

As shown in past mods, the detail is not an issue and can be made to look just like the black series. I'm curious about the size of the black series now.
My birthday is in a couple of weeks, so I will ask my wife to get me the rubies. I'm still going after boba however it looks like I will leave the trooper alone seeing how it's smaller.

The Black Series helmet is closer to the accurate size coming from 3D data of the real helmet.

The Target Kylo Ren is much too big, and the chrome bands are innacurate.. Meaning they are symmetrical while the real helmet and Black Series have the proper asymetrical bands. The Target helmet is almost as big as the Anovos F/O trooper for reference.

My Target this morning had Kylo, Vader, and stormtrooper - no Fett. I don't think they were old stock either because the boxes were different than I remember...

Sorry for the bad pic.
this is the child size rubies kylo helmet. I had the black series but it was huge....like a bobblehead. So i bought this. For anyone not familiar it is about $20 and made of flimsy plastic. I fiberglassed it, bondo ed the seam and cut out the cheek holes. That 's the progress in this pic. Today i added more distressing to it and put some texture on it. Next up will be paint.

i really like it, It's a great fit and super light. Not bulky at all.

Do you still have the black series and if so can you post a side by side pic with the smaller rubies vrs black series

Sorry, returned it. There is some wiggle room on the child's rubies though. It was actually a little wider but i didnt like the overall look, so i taped across it when i fiberglassed it to make it a little more narrow.

.....there are some side by sides in this vid about half way through

And you can see her scrunch up the width of it.

For reference im 5'11 198 lbs.

The Target-exclusive helmets from last Halloween were made by Rubies and didn't match any of their earlier offerings. The First Order Stormtrooper helmet was the same size as their "adult deluxe" costume helmets, but made of better materials. The Vader I'm not sure about. And the other two (Kylo and Fett) were brand new. The Black Series is made by Hasbro as high-end "action roleplay" toys and usually include sound/voice effects.

If the Rubies ones that were exclusive to Target last year are general release this year, I'll be a happy camper. :)

I will go to a few targets tomorrow and have a look. Now I do know that target sells a kylo helmet all year long found in the toy section for around 20 dollars. It's nothing more than a cheap flimsy material and this seems consistent with complains about the mask. Are people buying this one and confusing it with the Halloween helmet? When I looked last year, it seemed the Halloween helmet was a little better as far a construction as well as the materials
