Any update on QMX's Mal's gun?

I don't get it... if you don't have confidence in the company... then why bother with it and its products?

I simply don't understand all this resentment. Have the patience to wait... and if you can't do that... move along and take your money with you. Only get the concern from those who have, for whatever reasons, already been charged for this merchandise.

I for one will only benefit from all these cancellations - as I said in the other thread that is now removed: it certainly heightens my chances of getting one of the pistols when they are finally made available and the quality of the piece is in order... and that's good news for me. :lol:thumbsup

Have fun guys.

I guess I wasn't clear enough. I didn't slam the company. I was just stating an economic fact. Consumer confidence can be shaken by all manner of things, but delays and excuses, and having an executive from a company on message boards spreading around sarcasm at a few thousand potential customers can be seriously detrimental. And once the confidence is gone, it's gone.

How do you think QMX's finaciers would feel if they read Steve's postings? What if you were one of them?

What I have a problem understanding is how a company, licensed and well funded, can't produce an item they have pushed this hard. It seems to me that is priority #1, is it not? GET IT OUT. GET IT DONE!

Or, don't push the damn thing until AFTER the kinks have been worked out of production, and you know exactly when it's getting shipped.

I know this is a unique situation though. We're not talking about Coke revealing a new flavor months before it hits the streets, promising how great it is, getting everyone hyped up, and then when it's not delivered, the president of coke gets on the forums and makes sarcastic comments toward it's customers about the delays.

This is a person who knows many of the members here personally. It's very different.

And really this is a discussion of corporate ethics as much as anything. If this stuff rolls off you, and you don't have any issue with it, great. But some folks don't like it, and some folks don't want to have to wait for it.

Why the personal attacks?

Good question?

Truth is QMx tucked tail and skipped out on the customers and the RPF as it stands now... Deleted the supposed update, and for one reason or another pulled the affiliate banner...

I hear they updated the site and have a 3rd quarter shipping date, that gives them roughly 100 days to go from nothing to a final product shipped... If they are not blowing smoke I suspect we will be seeing the final working prototype posted to the website any day to fit that tight of a time frame... 100 days doesn't leave much more time for revisions or changes if they are to keep to the schedule they have posted, so they must be very close to a full production run and most certainly have a working prototype by now... Lets hope they get the rest of the Drac rings out as well that people have paid for, so they can start to move forward and avoid threads like this...

Diatribe? I posted one warning. One. Easy Hoss.

And it was a direct response to someone clearly stepping on the toes of a LICENSED vendor, which is SUPPOSED to command some level of respect here. Not saying it does, just that it is supposed to.

If I am not mistaken, respect is earned, not given just because you have a license. If QMX wants any respect from most people, they need a lot of improvement.

Honestly, it really does not matter if SD is running it or Bill Gates, when you are unable to answer questions from buyers or perspective buyers and you are unable to produce a product that has been promised for over a year now, you do not have the right to simply be given respect.

In addition, the tone that some of these business owners take with customers and would be customers does not warrant respect.

Anyway, I went on too long. In short, respect is earned.

Thanks for listening!

I wondered about that! I could have sworn I saw a QMx affiliate banner before and it's defnitely gone now.

Well I feel that getting a license does earn you more respect than the average garage kit here.

Go try getting one. It's not easy.

This thread is for info and opinions about the QMX gun situation. Not about whose posting style irritates who. So knock off the bickering.

I don't know if they've been posted on the site or not, but prototype pics of the retooled gun were sent out in a newsletter. (At the end of March I think.) If anyone wants them, I probably still have them in my inbox.

These are the pics from the QMX Newsletter joatrash was refering to:

Danke, Barbatus! :thumbsup

Yes, those were the pics I was referring to. I think it's looking rather promising. I don't know how the actual prop is in this regard, but perhaps the only thing I'm kinda missing is a slightly higher metallic sheen- but that could be down to the lighting. Still, the casting looks nice and sharp.

You´re welcome ;) I would love to reply something in swedish, but unfortunately my mother-in-law isn´t here to help me out...

Although I think these pics looked promising, I´m going to stick with the Firefly version of Mal´s pistol. First I was thinking about purchasing from QMX due to the guns looking extremely similar, but I personally prefer non static prop guns and the odyssey this product took thus far didn´t convince me either. And last but not least, I love the series but hate the movie (and I don´t blame QMX for that :rolleyes they tried to get the Firefly licence too).

Without knowing any of the parties involved, I just would like to say the following:

QMX members first promoted their products on the RPF:

“I thought the RPF should be the first to see the Mal Gun ad from Quantum Mechanix.” (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=13555&highlight=serenity)

So why did they run away then when things didn´t work out as planned? I completely understand that it is more fun to tell what great things QMX is working on, but I think if they promote their stuff here they should also have the courage to stay when things go wrong.

I still hope they get their business up and running since I´m looking forward to see their MIB line.

Mike from Razor's Edge Collectibles said he has spoken to someone over at QMX and was assured that these would be out next month.

You can read his reply over on serenitycollectors.com in the forums in the Mal QMX thread.

i was actually the one that told Mike that i heard from QMX that theyd be out in a few weeks.
i dont know how much truth there is to this tho

Sniff sniff...smells like...vaperware...

Of course, that is one of Stevie's trademarks :lol Isn't there still some refunds pending from Stevie's bootleg prop "pre-MR" days? Bladerunner metal blasters, Trek "phone" communicators? Who can keep track these days?

Anyway, I'm still waiting for my pre-ordered QMX gun, but now I have a Sidkit "Official Non-Vaperware Metal Mal Gun 1ea" to play with while I wait :love
