Any update on QMX's Mal's gun?

Well... I just got a message from them a couple days ago telling me they were doing everything they could to get it out asap, but that they didn't have a firm date. They also mentioned working on several other Serenity products.

My theory about this whole thing (and I have no proof at all... just a slight gut tingling) is that they're now working with a large investor or corporation (like Universal) to build something big... I mean big as in "large company" and not "studio scale model". Perhaps they started out by planning to get a few things released... this big "investor" comes along bringing lots of cash/muscle/potential (as well as red tape) and that sorta jumbled the papers about, causing a bit of chaos. If such a relationship is indeed in the works (again, no proof... just a theory) they would probably hold off on announcing it until everything was set and that's what's causing it to look like they've stalled.

One month later. :thumbsdown

This has gotten silly. I mean how long ago did we first hear they went with a new manufacturer? Geez! So, what was that URL to Sidkit again? ;)

I think we got the news back in April. How many months does it take for MR between showing off prototype photos and shipping the final product?

There are just too many unknown factors in a situation like this to have any real true-to-life discussion. Who knows, for example, what kind of time-frame the current manufacturer is working on? Some companies will only take orders many months before the product is due to be manufactured. Or what happens if a huge company comes and wants 20000 units of something "by tomorrow"- will the manufacturer give priority to that over the tiny order of 1500 plastic guns?

I've got a Sidkit too, and I sure as hell am none too pleased about the delays, but I'm sticking with my QMX order until I either get the gun or lose my $. (If that happens, it will be the first time I have ever lost money on a prop deal.)

Also... I would say that ordering the official pistol is one small, but certain, way of showing Universal that there is dollar-demand for more of the Verse.

I cancelled my (already paid for) QMx Mal and used the cash to buy the Sidkit which is sitting on my mantle as we speak.

IF the QMx ever becomes a reality, I will more than likely buy one in the interests of as you said, showing Universal there is interest. But I will not plunk down any cash, or even put my name on a pre-order list until the pistol exists in the physical realm.

I'm darn close to cancelling my already paid for pistol too. :angry

You would think with all the experience that is behind QMX they would understand it's imperative to keep your customers informed. Especially since this was supposed to be their first major prop release.

They know that the best thing for them to do is just shut the hell up and finish the things, 'cause every time they pop their heads out to say something without having a solid ship date, it's just gonna start a ruckus.

And if any of my theories above are even close to being true, the current situation/silence is not at all surprising. I just hope that cancellations aren't going to 'cause Universal to thing there's less demand for more of the Verse.

The "company" you are refering to was CLASSICS REBORN (Dave Gielda).

Although while they were floundering, a buddy made up this logo based on theirs.

You can see where we thought they were going.

... Or conversely, all pigs fuelled and ready for take off!

The simplest explanation is nearly always the actual explanation, in as much as it's easier for them to not keep making promises they can't keep. If they say nothing, they don't get dogpiled when the latest deadline goes whooshing by.

Uh... that's kinda what I was sayin' :

From a scientific perspective, this is funny stuff. The dripping irony of the chosen company name (QMx) and the superposition of states of this Mal gun (it is finished, it hasnt been started, its almost done, etc) is classic stuff! :lol

Whoever named the company had it right. Now where is that darned Schrödinger's cat experiment I misplaced?

Not quite. My response was in reply to these comments that you also made.

That is a complicated assumption. I don't think it has anything to do with an imagined deal. I think they've just learned not to make promises they can't keep. That is the simplest and most likely scenario.

Well, I wasn't actually assuming anything, only offering a possible explanation. As for being complex... yes, I agree, but that doesn't make it implausible, though possibly unlikely.

My line "every time they pop their heads out to say something" also encompasses "making promises".
