Any thoughts on these "autograph" sellers?

Hey Guys,

There's a gentleman whom I've always wanted an autograph from but he's currently 91 and living on a different continent so my only way of acquiring this autograph it seems is to purchase one.

There are three sellers on ebay who currently have prints for sale with his autograph. I know there are some folks out there who know a LOT about this stuff so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts of the authenticity of these guys? Their user names on ebay are:

bondcollectibles

rb-autogramme-berlin

brandesautographs

I know ebay isn't the best place to get autographs but it seems to be my last option at the moment. Hoping someone has some insight they can share. :thumbsup

I can't comment on those particular sellers but I would be leery of any autograph purchases on eBay. There are far too many fakes for sale.

I would recommend purchasing from a UACC registered dealer. They have a strict code of ethics and are dedicated to furthering the hobby. There are many links to dealers on the website and some do sell on eBay as well.

Well, at least many of these supposedly "authentic" autographs are replicas. :p

That's why I'm asking. Other than the fact that it's ebay do you know this for sure?

While I totally agree there are currently no UACC registered dealers that are selling this autograph that I can find.

Not really sure where to put it. Mods can move if they deem it necessary. I've seen questions about ebay sellers of all types in here so figured this was my best shot.

It's not prop related so it shouldn't be here. By best guess is the OT forum.

Actually, did some sleuthing and one of these sellers is indeed UACC registered. I'll be buying from them (sadly they have the worst pics though :lol lends to their credibility!)

Thanks guys.

PM me who you're looking for. I have a buddy in LA that has been in the autograph business for 20 years. I can give him a call and see if he has your guy.

This means absolutely nothing. I've seen countess fakes hiding under this certification. The new auto-pen machines are cheap and devilishly effective. If it's not obtained in person by you or someone you have nothing but mad respect for, pass it by.

I totally agree. My issue is the person I'm trying to get, Ken Adam (might as well say it as I don't think there are many people out there who realize his genius), is someone I have MAD respect and admiration for and I've wanted his autograph for about 20 years so with him now being 91 I feel it's now or never. :(

I've been given a couple unconfirmed addresses as well that I'll try. Worst case scenario I lose a few prints trying.

You have good taste ken is a icon and Genius!

I hope you are successful

Not sure about purchases from these stores, but I know BrandesAutographs.com is the website of that one eBay seller. The owner, Markus Brandes writes many articles and other online publications about fraud and how to be aware, protect yourself from buying, etc..
Just google his name and read up some things he wrote. You have to think, someone who is out there trying to educate people really might be on the up and up.
