Anovos Stormtrooper.... thoughts?

image.jpeg

It is smaller, & a bit more wider in the face (at least that's what it looks like)... but, I do like it. Wish I got one when it was on tier 1 pricing.

A quick note on FedEx. I got a notice of delivery text with a window of 9:10 - 11:05am. That's a pretty specific time frame. I took the morning off to receive the delivery and took my kids to school. I arrived home at 8:25am to a door hanger that said delivery attempted at 8:22am. I immediately called FedEx and they were able to re-route the driver for a second attempt. He showed up and I mentioned that he had arrived 45 minutes earlier than the window and he said, "They didn't tell me that."

So keep in mind the estimated delivery time is just that: estimated with a huge margin of error.

Food for thought.

Holy cow, this just chopped off nearly my entire post.

I can't say that I'm really "studied" on these helmets, but when the Anovos is compared side by side with the other helmets, aside from it being shorter/squatter, the area around the eyes look sharper, and the eyes themselves look a bit smaller. It's been noted a few times, the mouth is squared off.

What's most notable is how the final helmet seems to have a much sharper edge to it than the pre-order prototype depicted on the website. Especially around the eyes - the corner isn't as pointy and sharp.

To be fair, if this is sitting at your home, or you're trooping a party, it's damn good. It's infinitely better than the Rubies and junk I've seen at our local department stores around Halloween. My neighbor is getting the entire kit, probably in the next month or so, so I'm dying to see this thing up close and in person.

The right photo is a AFX which is a fan sculpt not 501 st approved any longer and not a good comparisation, the left photo on the other hand is a good example.

I have cut out 80% of the armor and started test fitting things together. I'm 6ft 4in 180lbs and from what it looks like right now the armor will fit me nicely. There is protective wrap on all the parts, my favorite part is the belt.

Yay! I was a bit worried about the kit being slightly taller than you, almost didn't order it because I thought that it would not fit. Then I thought to my self.....what did Pricess Leia say again....oh yeah "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" Not me baby :)

Wasn't necessarily comparing the Anovos to the FX persay - it's just the first time I really noticed the more dramatic angles - that photo has better lighting in general between the two photos I posted. But with that FX photo, you can really see how the Anovos production changed vs the prototype helmet.

I can't say anything negative about it. For the first time in this hobby I almost feel guilty about what I paid for it. Having said that I still feel like it's a starting place for me. Even so it's far beyond what the old timers started with.

I'm heavier, but only 6'3". Glad to hear the armor should fit me! I was worried I would have to drop big bucks on AM or RT-Mod to fit.

Tom Ernie Schuerer :unsure

who knows who he recast that from!

Apollo, You are the first one that I've come across who even recognizes what I might be talking about. It was such a long time ago... For years, I was the only Stormtrooper in Dallas as best we could tell.

What do you know or remember about that Tom Ernie Schuerer guy and what he was selling in 1990? As I said, I've got one of his complete troopers and E-11, and many parts of my Fett and EE-3 came from him. Even though I like the overall look and fit of my TK armor, I always new that it was not cast off of anything authentic. But I was always curious what it's lineage or heritage was; if it was original to him or if he copied someone else. No internet back then, just magazines, faxes and snail mail.

If anyone else has anything at all to add about my mystery of Universal Armorer in Pennsylvania in the 90's, please let me know. Thanks.

I knew Tom for a few years before I found out that he was ripping people off.

I can not say for sure about the Armor but I believe it was a recast of someone elses work.

His exploits are legendary in the Replica prop world google his name and be prepared to be shocked

Granted, I have been out of the TK game for a few years (between school and my full time job) but that looks like the best comparison we have so far. It looks pretty good to my eyes. Maybe a bit taller and thinner that the RS, but that seems like a great representation of the real deal.
