Anovos Stormtrooper.... thoughts?

Umm, that's movie accurate, go look at some real movie helmets. Scuffs and smudges can be removed.

See this is the problem I feared any company would run into trying to provide mass produced armor made in China for $350. People that don't know what these suits should look like are now expecting some sort of perceived perfection.

The smudges/marks do bother me and aren't what any customer should be expected to put up with. The trimming on the helmet bothers me as we all know that it's not been done on purpose, it's due to Anovos' lack of quality control. It also doesn't match the images used to advertise it in the first place (which is what our preorders were based on). Any customer that buys a product that doesn't match the photo's used to advertise it has a right to be disappointed.

Ääääh, no. Sorry, but no.

You need to cut to the line that is needed. Therefor it doesn´t matter if 1cm or 3cm or more needs to be cut. The only difference is a little more stuff to throw in the garbage bin.
And I wouldn't even throw that away. You never know where you could use it to shim a piece or to melt into goop to usr for touch-ups or something. I think the more material you have to cut away, the more you have as a backup in case you need it.

Wait... you punks(and I mean that in the nicest possible way) got a set of untrimmed trooper armor AND a completed helmet for $350? That would be a freaking steal. The helmet is a bit derpy, but you could fix some of it by simply trimming the eye a little different and taking off some of the paint off(top and bottom edges) of that freakishly large grin. I definitely missed out on that...

I received my kit yesterday, and I'm super excited. I haven't had a chance to inspect everything in detail, but I'm extremely happy to have gotten this kit for $350. It's been a childhood dream of mine to be a Stormtrooper, and while I'm a bit intimidated having never built a TK kit before, I'm looking forward to the journey and learning new skills. Thanks, ANOVOS!

If anyone is unhappy with their kit Id be happy to purchase It I was looking to get a FO trooper to apply to 501st but will want this one just to gain building skills as I have never put a kit together before.

I opened the box but I haven't inspected in great detail.

As Anovos switched back to ABS there does not seem to be the protective film seen on the PVC suits from the Tested.com videos. I noticed at least 1 piece, a forearm, that is really scratched up by whoever did the trimming.

Helmet looks great, especially considering a helmet plus full suit was only $100 more than what MR and Exf helmets alone were going for last year.

No complaints, Anovos hit a grand slam with this kit. A perfect balance of price and accuracy.

Crazy isn't it? People get a COMPLETED helmet, untrimmed full stormtrooper armor with TRIM lines, bodysuit, neckseal, belt w/holster, gloves and strapping with Velcro for $350 and then say its horrible quality control because it has a few scuffs. :lol:facepalm With the UK exchange rate that's like $250

They should try and clean it up first, if that doesn't work and they're still unhappy contact Anovos for a replacement, or sell it on here, someone will buy it.

I figured I might not like the way they trimmed out the helmet which is why I bought a kit helmet for an extra $100 so I could do it the way I wanted.

My BBB hasn't arrived yet but as long as no parts inside are downright trashed or broken, I know I won't complain. All the pics I've seen so far make me giddy. Even more so knowing what I paid for it.

Each one i read that was checked had the protective film.

Armor parts from the kit, not the helmet.

The people complaining are seriously cracking me up.

I've been changing and adding subtle weathering to my armor for like 5 years LOL. Even my GF helmet that I kept pristine for years and years now has subtle weathering.

Even the "Death Star troopers" and the hero closeup helmets had dirt scuffs scratches and smudges.

It doesn't look "real" if it's perfect.

And to anyone confused about the accuracy comparing the symmetrical waste of plastic that is the old MR injected molded helmet to this... Let alone the RS or the "upcoming" MR suit....

Well, you don't know enough to even own a set of armor.

Do some more research and look at hd stills from ANH before you spend a single dollar.

Us old timers have speant 20 years or more watching the movies frame by frame and discussing all the details we find...

Basically the debate is long over.

There are those who know what is accurate. And those that don't.

It's a simple lack of knowledge on the subject.

The issues with the items received in this thread should be irrelevant after the thought of what you paid.

2 years ago you would have speant $2,000 for untrimmed armor with untrimmed helmet. No undersuit, no straps, no belt, no holster. And you might wait a year or 2 to get. And more than likely no way to return it... So you would work with whatever you got... To me that was my most enjoyable time in this hobby!!!

Don't send it back. Pass it on to an RPFer that would appreciate it.

Go to eBay and search for 'FX armor'...

LOL.

hey all I am not saying there is an issue with the suit… its a kit… the bucket is a little rough… and it is… . i am not happy with the jagged way the eyes where cut but the lens is removable so that is fixable.. the ears kinda suck but thats always been a thing with all VF style costumes….and yes scratches can be taken out...but new out of a box you should not have to go buy more things to fix a problem like deep scratches... and it had blue paint smuge thing also…. not bitching by any means, just showing the comity what came..

It sounds like you didn't really read anything and just blindly purchased, and now you're remorseful.

nah i'll be happy as long as it arrives looking as per the advertised photo's (i'll take it on the chin that i thought it would need less trimming). Things in my life have happened since I ordered which mean I won't have enough time to spend on this kit as i'd have hoped, so i'll most likely keep the helmet and sell the armour kit.
