ANOVOS Shadow Stormtrooper released

YES,I paid the additional 23$ usd. . on top of the fedex 2 day shipping prepaid over one year ago.

??? That's just pure STUPIDITY....fuel prices change all the time...pre-paying for shipping (unless the item is ready to ship of course) makes zero sense.
shame on them for that.

When I pre-paid/ordered my viper helmet from eFX shipping was paid AFTER the helmets were in stock.

Yeah, I got a mystery charge for shipping too. Opened a ticket because it smelled fishy, (or maybe "phishy" would be a better word) Total they want from me is $20.63, but the oddest thing is they're asking for sales, both the state and added on county rate itemized out. Unless the law just changed, shouldn't they only be collecting tax in Wisconsin where they operate? Without a FL operation, I don't see how they'd have an account to collect and pay sales tax in my state. Like I said, "phishy". While I'm pretty sure it's them, and not some mystery prince from Nigeria, I find the tax charge odd, and frankly, as others have stated here, the whole thing is highly unprofessional. The whole "fund other projects" thing is great and all, but meet your existing commitments first,...Preferably at the original, agreed upon prices.

I mean honestly, if most of you got this as an invoice in your email, wouldn't you be suspicious?

Talking to customer service again today. Amanda has been great dealing with me but I was sent over to the supervisor. I dont have a confirmation # yet but i am told it will be shipped out today by 4pm California time.

Yeah, I just got off the live chat with them myself. Tough to justify clicking on a link to a payment page when they never mention my name or order number in the email. Still haven't heard a good explanation for how/why they're collecting sales tax in FL when she just told me they're in CA, but I'll just contact the DOR and they can talk about it. Pity, my previous transactions with Anovos have been great, but this is really putting me off.

I can chime in here a bit as I run an LLC. and depending on how they run their business model they may have to collect.
When it comes to taxes its a can-of-worms and its usually confusing and never explained well.

There are many reasons one might see a tax like this here is a blurp that explains reasons why you might get taxed even though the transaction was not in your state.

***
Just because the retailer doesn’t collect the sales tax doesn’t mean the purchase isn’t subject to tax. Purchases made on line aren’t automatically exempt from tax. If the retailer does not collect the sales tax, the purchaser has the obligation to pay the use tax directly to the state where the property is used as long as the item is taxable.

Use tax is defined as a tax on the storage, use, or consumption of a taxable item or service on which no sales tax has been paid. Use tax is a complimentary tax to the sales tax and does not apply if sales tax was charged.
***

So preorders-then storing or warehousing etc may require them to ask for that tax. [ I really don't know]
However I am not sure why your seeing this on a shipping invoice and the way they broke out the line items is interesting.
I've never seen that or done that to any of our customers so that is kind of odd.

No they do not.

This was a example "statement" of why one might see odd charges on your invoice.
We do not charge sales tax unless you live in our city/state, everyone else is exempt and we do not ask for sales tax as it's not required.

Since we do not know how they run their business model and accounting we do not know if they are required or not required to collect the local state tax on the transaction.
As mentioned tax laws are crazy confusing and you can go bonkers trying to figure them all out.

Based on what I see on that invoice I find it odd a shipping invoice is broken out by line items with state tax fees. [since they do not operate in FL]
We don't do that and I have never personally seen that. Its one fee, the shipping fee as one line item always.

I think all you you receiving normal tk kits instead of shadow trooper kits should be able to keep the tk kits and anovos should also send you the shadow trooper on their dime or give a full refund. Gotmaul posted in another forum about hanging in there with them as they have been growing fast band are working out all the kinks but shipping the wrong item is bad. It.was.not like it was a one off thing. I sounds like it is happening to multiple people. So glad I passed on some anovos items I was looking at earlier this year. Now I won't have to deal with tee messes that are happening forms me who have preordered items.

willy-wonka-yeah-right.jpg

Anovos should definitely be on the hook to make this right on their dime with shipping etc., but a free TK too???

And it gets better! Anovos KNOWS i refused the shipment... They KNOW its in the hands of UPS... They told me this is good enough to have them ship the correct suit out.... I was told that my suit would ship out TODAY and I would have a tracking number by 4....

GUESS WHAT

They just sent me a shipping label

"Please repackage the item in its original shipment box (or another shipment box, as available), and drop off at the proper carrier service center. Please direct all inquiries to support@anovos.com."

The tax on the shipping invoice is strange. I don't think I have ever seen tax listed for a shipping charge.

I agree that they should not charge for the shipping until the items are ready to ship and they know what the cost will be.

I have no issue with paying sales tax, and there is a mechanism for me to do so for items purchased over the internet in my state (2 specific lines on my Dept. of Revenue forms I file every month) That being said, I can find no indication anywhere that they have any type of operation in FL. This is why I'm notifying the FL Department of Revenue. If they have some under the radar operation here they shouldn't have any problems, but if they claim they're collecting FL and Pasco County sales tax and not remitting it to said institutions, that's not right. I might be less inclined to question their practices without the increased shipping charges. I understand why it will cost more to ship to me, since they've moved their operation to CA from WI and the extra distance will undoubtedly be more expensive, but unless someone knows of anyone on the West coast getting part of their shipping refunded (as it should cost less to ship to that zone now), costs would have largely been evened out. It just seems they're trying to squeeze every extra dollar they can out of this deal. Given the issues with people receiving TK kits by mistake, it seems they're certainly saving by not hiring quality warehouse staff. I don't blame them for trying to make a buck, all of us with budgets to make do all we can, but they're going to alienate more than a few customers this way, and if the tax situation isn't legit, rack up some serious legal costs. It's a pity actually, I was really excited about that new ANH Vader helmet they were releasing, but I really don't have confidence in ordering from them at this point.

This would suck for international customers. Sending back a package then waiting for the new one. Did Anovos pay for return shipping?

Well still nothing shipped back to me...Customer service is not their forte.
