ANOVOS Kirk TOS Tunic

As far as the Price anything cheaper and you will be wearing a Ruby and trust me you don't want that!

Go ahead, ask me how much my 100% screen accurate 1st/2nd season velour tunic made using Bill T's original hand drawn patterns and original 1965 brass embrordery dies, cost.

Yeah, A couple of years ago I had a couple of OrionWoman Tunics before she started cheating/screwing everyone over, They weren't to bad.

Now I also belong to the 1701st and I'm trying my hand at making my own Uniforms now.

First of all, this is a respectable thread...we'll have NO mention of Orion Woman Raven here! I'll not discredit ANOVOS's fine work (though I do reserve the right to nit pick) by having that p.o.s. mentioned in a thread about a new company trying to help out the fans.

With that out of the way, $175.00 back before he started playing James T. West.

When it comes to pricing, one does have to take into account the licensing fees that CBS wants. I have a Cawley that is still unfinished and cost about half of the ANOVOS price... but it is not licensed. While I certainly have no idea of the exact figures, I'm sure CBS's license did not come cheap.

I agree 100%. Too true!
CBS wants their piece of the fan pie, and James is no longer making these to boot.
It's ANOVOS' game now. ;)

However high the CBS license, the customers deserve what was promised...accuracy. The wrap is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too tight, and the point is in the wrong place. The dresses are 1977 Phase II Dresses. The tunics display (as you pointed out) sizing inconsistant with the mesurements asked for and the placement of the insignia is outright wrong. There's more of course, but I've a verrrrry upset 6&1/2 month old yeoman who demands that I change her.
An officer's work is never done it seems. I have duties to attend to. Heh.

NOT ACCURATE! CMANavy, you might not require a tummy-tucking girdle, but your costume is incomplete without one! You can't be Captain Kirk unless you have that painfully obvious girdle line!

I was quoting 3rd Season Tunics.

Velour was a little cheaper.

Thats a good price on a Cawley :thumbsup

Actually, the velour in my command tunic is a bit more expensive than the 3rd season dk. The velour that James switched to is a custom manufactured velour dyed during manufacture based on the original unfaded swatches that James has in Bill's notebooks. I've actually seen pics of the original swatches over the custom run of fabric used for the command, sciences, and engineering, and its amazing! The color is dead on as is the sparkle amd sheen. They nailed it, and my washed out pic doesn't do of justice.

Oh I don't think we will ever see an EXACT replica, for that you need to get a Screen-used one.

I've been told by a few folks who own screen used fabric swatches that this gold fabric below is an exact match for screen used:

As you can see, next to the blue (the blue is the same material Cawley is using for all his tunics) the gold doesn't have the small lines in the material.

This tunic was made for me years ago using the same gold material above and from every angle, in every different lighting situation, the color and the sparkle are spot on from all the pictures I have seen.

Interesting I know of James new velour I'm just not really a big fan of the velours.

Pics are one thing but to be sure you have to put it next to a Screen-used one.

From what I have heard he came very close.

Your velour almost looks like one of Adams

My (longish, ramblingish) video review:

Anovos Review - YouTube

As I mention in the vid, mine has a rather unfortunate asymmetrical collar. I've already contacted ANOVOS about it and they've agreed to exchange it for me. When I get the new tunic, I'll update my review accordingly.

Dude get a tripod! :lol

Seriously though the collar bugs me too good that you are getting it exchanged.

I hate where they placed the insignia I changed mine immediately

John,

Those are some pretty bold statements. Those are also some pretty erroneous statements that you are making.

First and foremost, its an insult not only to myself but John Broughton to even insinuate that we lifted his pattern. John was our number one reference and still continues to be that. But to make that statement is erroneous and can cause you a lot of serious problems moving forward should you want to persist. In fact, the patterns are CBS approved as they were derived from a Hero SPOCK from the TOS series with pictures and a whole slew of Los Angeles pattern makers to back that statement up.

Secondly, the color was replicated off of swatches of fabric that were provided by CBS/PAramount from archive. With every dye lot of fabric, there is variation which was seen even in the swatches we had in front of us. But to say that you boldly KNOW that we chose to go lighter, is again, erroneous.

Your statements draw from previous conversations that we've had and state as fact. Yet, they are completely erroneous. Let me draw a very clear line :

LIBEL : the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image.

STpropguy76 - That's a pretty insulting statement all together. Just to make it clear, our team are professional manufacturing sites in America.

Everyone, we are not against nit picking. We do take very seriously statements made out to be fact especially when referencing contexts previous communications.
