My review....
This is what I paid:
1x Star Wars™ Han Solo Holster Rig Set (PRE-ORDER - Tier 1)
Subtotal : $375.00 USD
Shipping : $11.37 USD
Total : $386.37 USD
Cost if buying today: ??? Not currently listed on the site.
Wait time: 28 months
You will see in the images there is a letter explaining that the belt tools are still in development and will be shipped later.
What I Liked:
-Finish in the leather
-Quality of the buckles
-The belt has the ability to be fine tuned to different size waists such as wearing over a jacket thanks to functioning snaps.
-The ability to change to various movie versions
-Stuck a Denix based blaster in the holster, no fit issues.
-Waist belt locks to the buckles securely.
-Droid caller holder is very firm and holds the caller quite securely
What I disliked:
-Leather thinner than what fans are used to if you compared to belts made by the likes of MP Filmcraft or Todd’s Costumes.
-28 months wait and they still couldn’t deliver the belt tools
-The leg strap is too long. Even at the smallest setting, it still gaps.
-The holster may fall off its studs on the front and back buckles when putting it on. It is easier to fasten the waist first, and then click on the holster section.
Mixed:
-The metal droid caller is better than plastic but nothing special as a replica. Nice for what it is as I might not want to bang up a real Kobold or a better made replica like DECs. I say if you bought one for $75 during their “not at the con” special, you probably made a decent purchase, but at full price… questionable.
-Packaging… This is one of the reasons they posted for the delay and kept it listed as an issue for 12 months? It’s a nice box but… it’s a box.
Was it worth it?
If I plopped down $386.37 and then got it shipped immediately and completely with all the little bits…
Yes. You are easily going to pay $100 to $200 on replica droid callers and belt tools, not to mention getting the extra buckle.
However the truth is, I plopped $386.37 (Tier 1 pricing) and had to wait 28 months due to misinformation that was either poor planning or intentional misleading information… and I still do not have the complete set. The whole process has been so aggravating that when I look at the rig and I just do not feel impressed in any way or even happy.
I am not sure if this rig will make the grade for those costumers looking to go the extra mile on their Solo costume. I can easily see people taking this rig and scavenging it for parts in order to make a better holster using better leather.
The Solo rig will be added to my collection. It meets my requirements for my personal collection. The reason I purchased it in the first place was that I could sell my Todd’s holster and use the money I made in the sale toward the Anovos rig. Not only that but in the end, the rig would be a better deal overall since it would have all the little tools and droid caller. All it would take is selling the holster and waiting a month or two as that is what Anovos first set their delivery date. If I knew then what I know now, I would have just kept the Todd’s holster or sold it and spent the extra money on MP Filmcraft and the bits.
Will I continue to add Anovos items to my collection? Yes… but… I am going to wait till items are in stock and there is more info on the end quality (not prototypes).
