ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

My review....

This is what I paid:
1x Star Wars™ Han Solo Holster Rig Set (PRE-ORDER - Tier 1)
Subtotal : $375.00 USD
Shipping : $11.37 USD
Total : $386.37 USD
Cost if buying today: ??? Not currently listed on the site.
Wait time: 28 months

You will see in the images there is a letter explaining that the belt tools are still in development and will be shipped later.

What I Liked:
-Finish in the leather
-Quality of the buckles
-The belt has the ability to be fine tuned to different size waists such as wearing over a jacket thanks to functioning snaps.
-The ability to change to various movie versions
-Stuck a Denix based blaster in the holster, no fit issues.
-Waist belt locks to the buckles securely.
-Droid caller holder is very firm and holds the caller quite securely

What I disliked:
-Leather thinner than what fans are used to if you compared to belts made by the likes of MP Filmcraft or Todd’s Costumes.
-28 months wait and they still couldn’t deliver the belt tools
-The leg strap is too long. Even at the smallest setting, it still gaps.
-The holster may fall off its studs on the front and back buckles when putting it on. It is easier to fasten the waist first, and then click on the holster section.

Mixed:
-The metal droid caller is better than plastic but nothing special as a replica. Nice for what it is as I might not want to bang up a real Kobold or a better made replica like DECs. I say if you bought one for $75 during their “not at the con” special, you probably made a decent purchase, but at full price… questionable.
-Packaging… This is one of the reasons they posted for the delay and kept it listed as an issue for 12 months? It’s a nice box but… it’s a box.

Was it worth it?

If I plopped down $386.37 and then got it shipped immediately and completely with all the little bits…

Yes. You are easily going to pay $100 to $200 on replica droid callers and belt tools, not to mention getting the extra buckle.

However the truth is, I plopped $386.37 (Tier 1 pricing) and had to wait 28 months due to misinformation that was either poor planning or intentional misleading information… and I still do not have the complete set. The whole process has been so aggravating that when I look at the rig and I just do not feel impressed in any way or even happy.

I am not sure if this rig will make the grade for those costumers looking to go the extra mile on their Solo costume. I can easily see people taking this rig and scavenging it for parts in order to make a better holster using better leather.

The Solo rig will be added to my collection. It meets my requirements for my personal collection. The reason I purchased it in the first place was that I could sell my Todd’s holster and use the money I made in the sale toward the Anovos rig. Not only that but in the end, the rig would be a better deal overall since it would have all the little tools and droid caller. All it would take is selling the holster and waiting a month or two as that is what Anovos first set their delivery date. If I knew then what I know now, I would have just kept the Todd’s holster or sold it and spent the extra money on MP Filmcraft and the bits.

Will I continue to add Anovos items to my collection? Yes… but… I am going to wait till items are in stock and there is more info on the end quality (not prototypes).

I appreciate your input, Jagjaguwar. I've never dealt with EFX or RS, so for me, this is bottom of the barrel. I'd hate to see worse. Thinking about it, though, I'd rather have no CS and know it up front than to have CS that smiles and tells you one thing but does another. It was just uncool of them to have provided assurance that everything was good to go on my order, up to yesterday morning, so that I'd be able to get it like almost everyone else before Halloween, then turning around and making my order one of the few that got pushed back with no notification other than me seeing that I didn't receive a shipping notice when GotMaul said I should probably be seeing one. Man, I'm getting livid again. You suck Anovos.

That's not actually bad customer service. I mean **** happens, it's a shame. Keeping in contact with you is actually pretty good CS. It certainly sucks, I'm not saying it doesn't suck, and isn't exactly good in regards to their manufacturing and stuff but the customer service aspect of it is fine. The only thing they could do better for you is to offer expedite shipping free when they do become available, or some sort of discount etc. Customer service is not making the products, making them better, or making them come faster, it's how they interact with customers.

As most know I am in constant contact with ANOVOS and eFX for anyone who needs help with orders or questions answered about their orders. I know these delays suck and no one has more outstanding orders with ANOVOS then me. I even told Joe to let someone else get my Vader sooner than me as I could wait longer as I did not have a mannequin yet anyway. One thing I would say is that if ANOVOS received defective product, then they are better off not sending it out to customers and then having it returned and replaced. I will talk to Joe about their customer service reps giving out wrong information to customers as that needs to be corrected immediately. For those who have been with ANOVOS from the start like me, I can say we are seeing product being delivered although tremendously late. Again, they do offer a complete refund for anyone who wants to cancel their orders. Anyone needing any direct help, then let me know.

So after complaining here about seeing the Solo belt (not holster) advertised as in stock and shipping, Maul expedited my purchase. While I'm grateful it arrived today, I don't find it good customer service to send spam advertising sale prices and immediate shipping when I still hadn't received my full price belt.

Last month, I got shipping notice on my OT trooper helmet. After 2 weeks, I contacted live service to find out where it might be. Whoops! It never shipped! They sent me a shipping notice by accident! Another month goes by and it finally ships.

I'm still waiting on my holster, after being promised in person at SDCC 2015 that'd I'd be getting it in September 2015.

I agree with the above poster: its better to have a long disappointment than to be promised your order, only to not have it show up. I've commissioned many artists; some I've been waiting years for my pieces. But they don't promise hard dates that get missed. I hate being lied to... and some may argue matters are out of Anovos hands, but you don't make promises you can't keep. Imagine if all businesses ran like this. TBH, it sours me on collecting.

My $.02...

yeah, so we have to wait for Anovos stuff and it sucks...

I've been in this hobby for 10 years. I've spent $1000's. One thing I've learned is that waiting happens. I've waited YEARS for things from artists on this forum. YEARS.

This doesn't excuse Anovos, but they are a legit company dealing with manufacturing, distribution and licensing. This all takes time.

Here is the alternative. They could wait until a certain costume/helmet is completely done, and then offer them for sale in a limited number. Then they'd sell out and we'd all complain.

I think they've delivered great, accurate products so far at FAIR prices.

So you gotta wait. I'm not thrilled either. But try buying another high end product on this forum. Not with all, but with the MAJORITY of high end purchases, waiting comes with the territory.

I figured I'd save some space and time:
<rant>Anovos blah blah ship my stuff already blah blah you smell of elderberries blah blah</rant>

On the bright side I received two separate shipping notifications yesterday (neither one from Anovos, of course).
I'll be receiving two new helmets next week. Woot!

It looks pretty nice in pictures. I didnt order one because I've still got my MP belt, but I'd love to see how they compare.

Anyone know what the magic formula is to cancel an order from Anovos? I have sent two e-mails and no reply.

Log a ticket on their site.

They'll then give you a link to fill out a form that takes care of the process.

Thanks! I tried that after you posted this and they are telling me I have the maximum number of tickets allowed . . . I don't have any tickets that I know of . . .

I'll give it a few more days and then just contact the CC company. A shame they can't get the communication part of the business worked out.

The problem is, 2 years plus is on the LONG end of waiting. who knows how long i'll be waiting for my kitt electronics, but that could be 4 years or more, and that's just oo much. who even knows if i'm alive then.

I'd rather they wait and sell out and be angry or dissapointed thne. A Vader is NOT a must have item.

waiting 2 or 3 years, and you may or may not get it is far worse i think.

Lemna, message me your order number or numbers. I'll get them to ANOVOS for refund.

That happened to me as well. I believe i sent an email titled 'too many tickets?' or something like that and they cleared that previous one so i could put up a new one. The odd part was i'd never had a ticket before. It was something to do with the newer system apparently.

Hmmm. Good arguments, but i´m not the biggest fan of this guesswork "how it could have been".

Unless something hasreally been prooven with direct pics from the set/movie it´s all a free game only for me.

I've come to the conclusion that it just is what it is. Path of least resistance:

if you don't want me to use your pic Uncharted Leather just let me know, brother.

last i knew there was 2 different belts in ESB. one from ANH lightly modified and then a brand new one for ESB. i remember seeing the debate over the pockets being 1 piece of individual
