ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

If, and I mean IF, supplying the Mouse with product was their only way to save the company and actually start to catch up on all the late orders, then I think it's an understandable move on their part.

They alluded to cashflow problems last year in one of their "celebration updates" due to pre-order cancellations and failed factory deliveries (though they worded it in a way that caused a bit of offense in the community).

It sucks that "new" customers are getting products before old ones, it really does, but if it's either that or no one gets anything, then it's the lesser of two evils.

Shipping the Solo TFA must've been a big win for them, since it's the first of their (many) new garments that need to get done. Hopefully they will be able to keep up the momentum. I'm guessing that it's the same factory producung the Picard jacket and if so, there's reason to look forward to it. Same with the Star Lord. It's gonna be an interesting spring and summer...

FIne, then admit it. People will be pissed, i'm sure, but they'll also understand it was things that had to be done. Just doing it and saying nothing just pisses people off period, and NO ONE is understanding that way.

All we've ever asked for is honesty, but that's apparently something they're incapable of.

I hope Anovos is able to fulfill their customers obligations, and hopefully these recent shipments are the first signs of a turnaround. I still am not preordering anything from them, though.

For my own collecting purposes, Anovos is the closest thing we can get to "screen lineage" for almost all Disney-era helmets, unless some props somehow leak out of their vault. Hopefully they can fix their issues during the film hiatus and catch up on their backlog of preorders. I'd love to have obscure helmets like the Patrol and Mimban trooper that are based on original props in my collection.

Well... My Han FA jacket arrived today.
It's better in person so I'm pleasantly surprised. I still like the weight of Dannie's more. That said, I think with some time on a hanger to relax it a bit as well as some distressing and weathering and a couple applications of Pecards it will come around.

Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve for the update.

Anovos didn’t make the “cast member “ costumes, they look nothing like the anovos kits.
Anovos did supply the Rise of the Resistance kits and the FOTK and Kylo helmets and complete FOTK you can buy at the park. There’s no doubt they sent our kits to the Rise of the Resistance instead of to customers.

Hopefully now that the parks are being supplied they will finally start shipping to pre-paid customers.
Aren't the troopers in Rise of Resistance cast members or are they animatronic? By "cast member", do you mean the FO TKs running around outside interacting with the park visitors? Are those suits more or less accurate than the Anovos kits?

Steve, a favor to ask:
any chance you'd be able to do show us a few pictures of you wearing Yours?

I'm thinking it'll still be a while before I see mine in person... so I'd love to get some idea of what this jacket will look like on someone.

Nice! Small note: I have recently been told in private that the real jackets were apparently pretty heavy leather, despite the look. I doubt it's as thick as the Anovos, but perhaps not too far off. The leather looks very thin in the movie stills, but in photos where it was on display it looks thicker.

I don't think they're allowed to. Not really in their defense, but big IP holders often stipulate in contracts that you may not communicate anything that risks damaging the brand. I'm kinda surprised they admitted as much as they did- perhaps they got the Mouse to relent a little, knowing that total silence would be even worse. I've dealt with similar things, professionally. It can spill over into how you fund your product! Once, I was discussing licensing a brand for a possible video game and one of the stipulations was that crowdfunding was not allowed, because it could be seen as the IP was "too weak" to get investors or other funding. IP holders can be paranoid about these issues, so if they are indeed paying for old orders with deliveries to the parks and other things, it's not surprising they would not say it openly.

And due to that people are now thinking they are a sort of criminals - and Disney is, due to accepting that behaviour or/and due to having their own orders done first, part of that.

Yeah, it really protected the brand. :D

And, in true screw-fans, money-grabbing form, some price-gauging a-hole just put his ANOVOS Solo jacket up for sale on eBay.

$300 more?! Sure, make a LITTLE back, but why try to screw people? Start the auction at $100 more than you paid with shipping and see where it goes. I have NEVER respected people who do this to members of our own community. Lame. I mean there are literally thousands of people out there, not as Lucy or liquid as others, so the fact people put price something so high very few people can afford it in the fan base makes me mad.

You seem so surprised by this

Am I the only one that finds the fictional description of the Han Solo jacket being made of “nerf-hide” just profoundly silly / stupid?

Star Wars just can’t stop self-referencing everything in its past.

“Remember when Princess Leia called Han Solo a ‘nerf-herder’ in The Empire Strikes Back?? Well now he has a jacket made of nerf-hide that has been hand-dyed with dark ‘member berry juice...”

Anyway, I just received a response from ANOVOS customer support regarding a shipping inquiry that I sent on August 17th (almost 5 months later). Just an outstanding customer service experience.

The request for feedback, attached to their email, is giggle-inducing:
