another Spinner . 6th scale. printed

so about what seams like a year ago I saw an add on e bay for a pre order 6th scale Decker that look very good. I'd just about given up as they missed every dead line and kept sawing another month when ever I asked for news. well it came today and I'm not disappointed.

Great catch (which brand is that?). Now that your project is complete, I'm sure a pro-vid will follow:p(y)(y):notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

oh, it's far from complete. apart from the electronics hanging out. I think this is only version 1, I've learned so much that I got wrong it needs version 2. but a video will be coming, I just have a little job with a time machine in Wales to do first.

I have started again with the CAD drawing and found out where I made the mistake, I used this art department drawing as part of my reference and the roof is too low sending some of the shapes out. here's hoping there won't need to be a version 3.

I said I would show you what was wrong with my model. This was a walk away and do something else for a wile moment for me but then I decided to carry on because I'd gone to far. After all I started this project as just a way to learn 3D printing, accuracy wasn't my main concern to start with.
Here is a video now I've started on a model with all the corrections I've learned on the way. It's not all bad There's a lot I can still use in version 2.

Construction drawing can sometimes be misleading in terms of what the actual built props finally looked like. I‘m sure Gene Winfield didn’t follow them to the letter either but as a guideline since the technical draughtsman Bill Skinner drew his drawings as an interpretation of Syd Mead’s renderings.
I don’t know if you noticed on the original plans that there was a slight curve to the outer door-frame panel on the drawings. Was it built straight or flat on the full size version?. There are probably endless iterations to this.
But you‘ve done a beautiful job on both versions and a mark of the great craftsperson you are to keep seeking for perfection.

yes there is a slight curve on the door like in my version 1 model. the doors aren't effected in my new build so haven't spent any time modelling them. the only major change is the the roof height effecting the windows and the rear.

WASNOT SURE if i share these with you last time...

WASNOT SURE if i share these with you last time...
sorry only just seen your post, I haven't had much free time (I've gone from giant sharks to time travel- let you know more when they come out)
I did have a copy of the prop store plan an I think that what threw me. because I could reed the dimensions I just projected from the drawing. and took the rest of my measurement from the model kit. the problem is the scans are out of scale.
fyling spinner drawing missmatch.jpg
Then a friend of mine who sent me an art department scan of Drawing one he'd got from Trumble (RIP) resulting in a cluster ****. shrinking the PS scan from the net to the right length ment the roof came down.

so mark 2 will be better. :-( thank you for you images though.

so all the lights are now working just the Servos to sort out and fill the gap on the back hatch.
Hi flimzy, did you ever get a chance to try out the "Arduino sketch" I sent you in a PM around the end of September ? Here is the video of it's sequence, hope it helps.

My God; I see stars...oops, wrong movie:p Well, that came out mighty F.A.B in my book...and thanks again for those vids; my saliva glands thank you(y)(y):cool::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:
