Another Revell Voyager build

Unfortunately i do not have any rooms with a star-field background that i can use, flowers is the best i can do so just pretend she has landed planet-side :)

Nice build.

I have one general question.
Why is it generally recommended to paint the model before assembly, won't it inhibit the glue bonding the parts to each other?

Thanks
Jamie

Some paint before, some after, some do it in sub assemblies. There are some areas of a model that you just cant get to once it has been painted and i guess it all depends on the kit and the individual. I tend to spray the base colour and then sand off the mating edges before using any adhesive, that always seems to work for me. Some do hardly any painting before they build. I dont think there is any one answer, its up to the individual so do what feels best for you. Just bear in mind that it is the end result that really matters.

Thanks for the tips.
I have Voyager, Runabout, Defiant and Enterprise NX 1/350 model kits all to build but didn't want to start before I had some good painting tips, as some model kits are hard to come by now and I don't want to ruin them by potentially painting them and not getting a good contact between the various sections and the kits potentially not staying together.

Don't worry too much about messing up a paint job. If you are using an airbrush the layers are incredibly thin so just re-prime and start again. Thorough masking with a good tape will stop any bleeds and just use use thin layers sparingly and build up the effect that you want. You will be fine I'm sure. This voyager was my first ever airbrushed model after a 15 or so year break. Just go for it and enjoy yourself.
