Another pep IM project *pic heavy*

Well I took the plunge into the pepakura world and decided to jump on the IM bandwagon. I blame TMP for this as he got me salivating over a potential IM suit back when the 1st IM movie came out a couple years ago. This is my 1st attempt at pretty much creating anything artistic, I have no talent nor do I pretend to have any, I like pepakura because it levels the playing field when it comes to building a base.

I kinda rushed my 1st attempt at the helmet as I used the side of my desk to "fold" the pieces and a gluestick to attach the pieces together (hey it worked). In any event I have no delusions of what the piece will look like when I'm done. It was meant as a mantle piece to sit in my home theater and collect dust. I am however now salivating over the opportunity to create an Iron man suit pep style.

Comments/complaints/whatever are always appreciated.

cheers.....

Re: Another pep IM project

Very nice work for a first attempt. I think it came out really well. :thumbsup I have my first attempt at a helmet cut but not folded yet. I hope it comes out as good as yours.

DO you think you might post these to the public? That is when you complete with them. I would love to have these as well. I think these are fantastic, you have done a great job on these. Congratulations.

Re: Another pep IM project

thats coming out great.... i can see this helm will rock when completed

Thanks very much, I hope it at least resembles somewhat of an IM helmet once done.

looks good so far! keep up the good work!

I'm learning as I go, I now score my edges which makes the "folding" process so much easier and less time consuming, thanks for the words of encouragement.

cheers

I do not believe you would even want a run on this.....on the other hand I suppose I could be a little hard on myself. But seriously I don't have a clue how to even make a mold, perhaps once I learn and have a different model I might try my luck for some friends and such??? trekking on with my glassing hopefully by tomorrow I can start the bondo process....

cheers

Re: Another pep IM project

To be perfectly honest I don't recal who's helmet this was (Dancingfools?, sharkhead?) I d/l so many files initially the file name was "IronanLetter.pdo". Sorry i was just so psyched to start I didn't pay attention.

cheers

Re: Another pep IM project

Ok glassing is done (what a PIA the jaw was). Now before I start to bondo do I need to sand and prime the helmet? I've tried looking for vids and such and the only one I seen mentioned to do so prior to bondo. I haven't however seen and posts on here stating this.....

I don't want to skip a step and ruin my 1st project..... kinda depressing.

cheers

Awesome work!! :D
glad to see more people going with the pep method :)

Once I get a couple pep projects under my belt I'm going to expand my learning experience with a clay sculpt...hahaha that should be priceless!

Really, really nice work on this

many thanks, I'm starting to bondo and it's not going so well :p I think I should have bought a new can of bondo instead of using my father's old can
:cry

cheers

I would reccomend, is to use gold grade bondo.
Its only a dollar more, but it is so easy to sand :D

Yes, the gold grade is definitely better for this type of thing

I buy the gallon bondo to just fill the piece or to make Rondo, and then I just use gold bondo on top to save cash instead of just buying gold bondo :p

Ill have to look into the stuff, anything that makes my life easier is worth a looksy.

cheers

looking good man! keep it up, and deff go with the gold bondo, i ran into the same issue with mine, thats why i have so many inperfections the spots that look the best are the gold stuff!
