ANOTHER Blade Runner Blaster- ARE YOU MAD??

the DOCTOR

Sr Member
Haven't had much to show round here, but as this is flavour of the month, I though I'd share.

Got me a Sidkit blaster, apologies to any who might be offended, but it's a good kit, and after seeing Karl's photos of the Hero, it didn't take much effort to accurise.

Here's the parts breakdown:

Here's the first slap together of the parts:

With the lights on:

With slide, er, slid:

Now modded with restraining bolt:

And with sliding 'probe':

All the moulded in machine screws have been replaced with the real thing, and any joints are soldered, not glued; I didn't have any trouble with the chamber release, it works fine on mine. I also replaced the metal bullets with real deactivated rounds:

I also added the fifth red LED, and am planning to add the two green LEDs on the sight; does anyone know if they were lit in the film?

Still to do: take out the bit on the side cover under where the slide arm fits, and file down the butt plate to follow the contour of the grips.

This has been fun, and I'm nearly onto the finishing stage, I'm actually going to finish a model.

Nice job. These kits are getting really tempting...

Is everything metal except for the grips? I can't tell whether or not the frame assembly is metal or colored resin/plastic.

It's all metal.

You guys are killing me. I really don't have the cash for this thing, but I'm starting to get an itch.

Nice work the DOCTOR. That's a good looking build.

A1 +

Lovely job. Metal seems to be the way to go. My two resin kits are beginning to look stupidly innacurate and plasticy now. :(

I really dig the way it looks unpainted...

How crazy is that, it's got a really interesting look unfinished. :D

I gotta get one, now. I keep seeing the pics and have to agree; for the money, it's a great deal. :thumbsup

I think I'll run a few pieces past the powder coater and see what they can come up with.

I wonder why some clever machinist doesn't make a little "cap" to fit over the big screw on the side there, and give it the correct "sundial" pattern... :love

To answer the above question - yes, the real magazine is plastic. As is the housing that it goes into.

Looks great. Gotta build mine up eventually.

Question: what's the mod you made with the "restraining bolt"? I ask only because I'm going to want to do it too .

And by the way, am I the only one that noticed the disappearance of the "Big" blade runner gun thread?? Where'd it go?
