Another Blade Runner 2049 K blaster.

I never intended to bother with K's blaster, but having his badge and hand carved wooden horse/broken unicorn, I opted to find one of the least expensive versions I could find.. But still be a good print quality.. And I am extremely pleased with this.. Came as an easy to assemble kit, just need to figure out what, if anything I'm going to do with the grips.
Cost of blaster.... a mere 28 of your Earth quid.

These are some screenshots I saved from the RPF Facebook group (RIP) years ago back before it got pointlessly zucced showing a technique someone posted for creating a carbon fiber effect with spraypaints and masking. Haven't tried it myself yet so I have no idea how difficult it is to do it right, but it looks promising and I intend to try once I get around to my K cosplay:

I can vouch for the effectiveness of the chrome with a smoke black dusting - I also went over it all with about 25 gazillion (approx) coats of hi-cote gloss.
I wish I'd the forethought to use that masking technique tho...I hand masked with 2mm tape and reverse masked.....it took 200 years (approx) to do all that malarkey.

I have actually got a stray piece of that matting... It'll require a bit more placing as the prop is fully built, but.. looks like a promising idea. As that's what was allegedly used on the original too

Interesting, I assumed the original would've used actual carbon fiber. Let us know how it goes if you try it!

Nope, you can see that it's a lot softer a finish that carbon fibre. That and Adam Savage and the guy from Propstore were discussing it in one of his videos.
You can see how soft the detail is on the originals, it's sprayed through the matting as a mask.

Ok.. here it is.. Is it perfect? Hell no.. Am I ok with it? Definitely.. Relatively easy, added the "mask" To one side at a time, cinched in with cable ties to get the best conformity. Like I say, it isn't perfect but for a ham fisted amateur, it's not bad. Still needs a few gazillion more lacquer passes, yes I haven't done the small parts behind the trigger.
I may still get some smokey lacquer for the final coats just to dull down the silver/grey a little more but otherwise I'll take this as pretty much done..
