Another, Another, Another Tie Bomber scratch build

Lovely job Guy !! Won't be ton long before you paint it ! :)

I used 0.75 styrene for the wing extensions too, 1mm looked too thick to my eye.

I used 0.75mmm styrene for the extensions & i think this looks pretty close if not blob on?

What did you other guys use just out of curiosity????

On the wings extensions I also used 0,75 styrene. But I added a second shorter coat with 0,25 styrene. I 'm not sure if that was right or if what I should have done was to scribe a line, but it looks good to me.

I was convinced that was how it was done or at least looked that way on the original, it seems though that it was just a trick of the light :eek, kinda makes sense though as the styrene on the the original is flush with some of the leopold strip in the centre of the wing, if it was stepped it would make the thicker part way too thin to have any strength and be flush at the same time.

If that make sense??? :confused

Looks good to me Guy, your really motoring with this one.

Cheers Lee, I just cant seem to take my time & get things really neat, I guess I'm always doing this on the run & even when I have the time I end up rushing.

Dont know if you've noticed but I think Halfords have changed & improved their primer, just got a fresh can today & its alot darker, and dries really really smooth. Maybe its just been a while since I've had a fresh can though :confused

Guy, i used a fresh tin of Halfords the other day, was like having an old pair of comfy shoes back.....went on like silk, its official, the best primer on the planet is back, in my own humble opinion :lol

The UPOL is awesome stuff, but the valve on the can, pure crud, why have an amazing primer, and get chintzy with the can its dispensed from :angry

I think I may have a big advantage Phil, about 10 build threads to use as reference & a guide. I would imagine a lot more head scratching for your good self when you did yours?

Yep did a lot of head scratching, I'm still doin it...but then I've got all sorts of itchy places...must shower more...:lol

How fiddly is it making the ramps that go on the wings over the wing to body rings?

These have brought me to my knee's trying to get them neat & straight, one wing has taken the best part of 8 hours just to make the ramps. I dont know if there is a secret to making these or I'm just naff but what a mare, still one wing to go!!!!!! I thought this was supposed to be fun. :lol

Guy, ive cut one of my ring sets in half, to get a perfect pattern, cheating i guess, but effective.

To my mind this was the most fiddly & time consuming pieces to make for sure!.
I made one good one out of styrene & used that as a pattern for the others. Of course the others needed a bit of fiddling but got there in the end.
I think 5hrs work comes to mind lol!
