ANH Hero "Solo" Blasters

Cleaning up my website's "storage" section this morning, I realized that while I don't have pictures of all the "upgrades" of ANH/Hero blasters that I have built over the years, I do have quite a few.

So, in honour of MR's ANH/Hero (the pristine "limited edition", which I can only assume means that a "open edition" weathered version will be next year's trick), here is a bunch of pictures. Please feel free to post your own varients :)

My first kit buildup (a MarkVI on a Denix with wood grips, naturally):

With accessories: http://www.dreadnaught-industries.com/imag...H_fullset_4.jpg

Gavidoc's Mauser buildup (top) with my first Mauser buildup (bottom):

1930 Mauser with '96 grips, replica (aluminum) scope:

1930 Mauser with '96 grips, Hensoldt scope:

1896 Mauser with original grips, Hensoldt scope:

And last, a 1896 series (made in 1912) Mauser with a more correct Hensoldt scope. Kurled outside mount knobs, glued "magic mystery disk", all machined aluminum mount and grill. Pretty good for now :)

OK now, who has one of those very early craptacular Bobadebt buildups with the mixed GK/Hero/ROTJ parts? Lets see those ANH/Heros types.

This board is great for that. How does that quote go... "...standing on the shoulders of giants..."

:)

I'd guess that I've built fifty or sixty Solo blasters over the years, and with the dedicated research from folks around here, they just keep getting better and better. I may not have all the real parts to build a ANH/Obi saber, but I do have a Solo/ANH that shoots 3" groups at 25 yards :lol

Here's my very first prop I made from a BobaDebt kit I got off of Ebay back when I first found the RPF online. I sold it when I got the MR Blaster.

And my first project...

Got a pic of two resin and metal Hans that beat the BD by a few years...two Marcos from about 1990:

One of the best ANH Han's I ever had...a Gavidoc GK:

And while not a Han blaster per se, it's still one of the coolest ANH Mauser variants...a resin Merr-Sonn allegedly from an original:

Here's mine:

It's a Denix with a mish-mash of parts: Boba Debt Muzzle and scope/mount (mount reworked and some parts reshaped), thumbwheels by Blast-Tech, grill by Corellian Exports, spacers by RussRep.

IMO, the best scope mount made to date (although there are plans for one with the correct dovetail cut bracket floating around; darn uncooperative machine shops and inconvenient forced relocations to countries without CNC capabilities...sigh...). One of only five made, if memory serves, set up by a crazed crazed old prospector with a pot/kettle fixation :p

Pictures with the old scope and before some other tweaking, but since I'm 4,500 miles away this is the best I can do ;)

Here's mine, still a WIP but being my first blaster prop I'm happy enough with it to wear it at Cons. I like the long barrel look so I went with that, screen accuracy be damned.

I'm still holding off building the hero until acurate scope mounts are available. But here is my new improved Chronicles/Visual Dictionary style GK. Real MGC, flash hider and Compac scope plus CE's scope bracket and grill.

That's actually a resin BobaDebt Merr Sonn - no relation to an original.
I've seen that come up a couple times, not sure who's spreading the "cast from original" rumor.

Chris from what I know BD made metal ones, and only built a couple himself, I don't think he made any resin versions (BD?).

But yeah, I know it's not original (probably shouldn't have said that in my post), someone sold one on eBay for an exhorbitant sum but it keeps being sold as "an original." I actually got mine for $125.00....hell of a cheap copy from an original. :lol

LA,
Awhile back I saw one on yourprops.com also listed as an "original" and forwarded it to BD.
They are BD's parts whether it's one of his originals or a recast. I recognized his invented ruby details immediately.
That other one I saw was even claimed to be from the personal collection of John Stears. :lol

John Stears? :lol Oh man...that's a hoot.

Since I had both BDs Denix based (one of his actual built up ones) and the resin one pictured if he says it's his parts then I have no doubt they were copied to molds. There were no metal parts except the little disc and rings around the red "lights", everything else was resin. It was nicely done I do have to say, better than some resin pieces I've seen.

And my apologies to Alex for ending up in a mini-hijack of his thread. :)

While on the subject of Merr Sonns, here's mine. The scope plug and detail below it need upgrading for sure... Chris? ;)

Hey, it is a ANH blaster show off thread; it is all good :p

I was going to post that the barrel was clearly incorrect for a "screen used" piece, much less some of the other details...but as usual, someone beat me to it :)
