ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

I think I've seen that photo posted on Facebook in the past. It's funny, the grill and flash hider are obviously taken from the old Kenner toy.

Cheers,

Dave

Got me. But it's john boyega during production. And I've been sitting on the image studying it. I saw it and knew it was ep vii production blaster.

Confirmed by the trailer now.

So this is our best look at it so far.

I'll be darned - they went back to the original ANH DL-44. I always figured they changed it for Empire since the original was so blasted (no pun intended) heavy.
So - if that is an original Hensoldt that Han/Batman is holding I gotta wonder - Is JJ that much of a stickler for accuracy, or...? I mean, it seems it would be infinitely easier (and cheaper) to buy a MR off ebay and weather it than to build one from scratch. Even using a DE kit takes quite a bit of time. I don't know what prop builders make an hour, but...
Cool.

The scope on the blaster that Boyega is holding has wear near the lens as if it was a real vintage scope but the knob is not brass.. Hmm.

Hey guys, my first post on this forum after finding a DL-44 replica that doesn't seem to match up with anything else I've seen... thought there may be some insight here after a friend of mine informed me of this forum. I had no idea it was in existence until a few days ago. I'm a collector of miltary antiques and an avid antique hunter. Many times I've come across replicas, movie memorabilia, etc.so I plan to be active here in the future. Also, I am an artist of many talents creating master models for a small garage casting company years ago and painting their display pieces. I'm very good with weathering techniques. I'm currently painting and and doing leather work so I'm sure to be involved soon. Anyway, here's the DL-44, possibly a custom job?

Looks like a Denix. Definitely a custom job.

(*edit - The accoutrements appear to be aluminum, though, which is a plus. And it's been wired for sound, which is also a plus.)

Yes, I purchased the other untouched Denix right next to it as well. Since posting this morning I pulled the grip and added a new battery. Trigger pulled sounds off a single blaster burst with flashing red light in the barrel. My boy is a little PO'd that it's not for him.

I'm also a little PO'd that it's not for me.
