ANH asymetric Stunt Stormtrooper Helmet WIP COMPLETE Pics Page 4 #84

Re: ANH asymetric Stunt Stormtrooper Helmet 99% Done

I've used the .pdo version which has printed out the glue tabs...

I think I spent overall approx. 9 till 12 hours on the paperwork (3-4 h on 3 Days), keep in mind that I don't use cardboard but thick printer paper (100gramms/square meter)

You mean the screen accurate yellow foam inside?

This is the next thing left with the Hovi-mix

.

You are tight Toxx!..at first i assmumed that this is going to be a serious project to make..& it was a really a serious project,i spent 6 days to finish the paper work & it consumed me 32 hrs....fiber glassing will be my next stage...i hope i could skip fiber glass...What do you recommend? can i go direct to fill it with bondo? :confused

maybe you can skip fiberglass, but i won't recommend that

the epoxy resin i used alone added so much stiffness and sturdiness, and bondo tends to crack if stressed.

first use only the resin to coat the pepakura, then add fiberglass-matts or cloth on the inside.

I've got the tipp to use spray-adhesive on the fiberglass-cloth before cutting it, then you can easily fix it in and apply the fiberglass resin.

Fantastic job, Toxx! You've got great skill - so it was obvious from the start that you were going to make a killer replica!

*********************
FYI, for those interested, a revised version of the Symmetrical ANH Trooper helmet is now available (v. 11-c). I've unfolded all the pieces, so it's ready to print.
I'll always put the latest version at spacecowboy.freehosting.com, so there'll be no mix-up of people using old files. The file is available as a Pepakura PDO file and also a PDF.

Please NOTE that I found an ERROR on the right cheek-tube of file version 11-a... one vertix got moved out of place and I never noticed it, so it makes a "lump" on the tube.
For those already building v.11-a, the fix for the CHEEK TUBE is available at spacecowboy.freehosting.com (both PDO and PDF versions), or you can directly download the PDO here.

Thank you for your kind words.

in the beginning i even wasn't sure if i was able to sand and sculpt it into shape, but it comes along in a nice way...
