Anakin Starkiller's New Luke ROTJ Hero saber design thread

I have received one of these sabers from a customer for install.
Was there ever a chassis completed for it?

Not to my knowledge, I know goth is working on it. And I believe it shares the same inner dimensions as Bryan’s so the chassis’s should be interchangeable

Again, I know a lot of time has passed so that might have changed

Yeah we believe the chassis will be interchangeable but I haven't finished designing the chassis for ours yet. The crystal chamber is nearly finished but the other part of the chassis is not done yet.

Thanks VC! When the time comes will be be ordering on shapeways or right through you?

I suspect we'll do a lower end less fancy shapeways based printable one with a fancier machined run.

the primary goal of the crystal chamber and the subsequent chassis I am working on is an elite/master level machined version. I will finish that up first and then simplify the components for shapeways for a lower tier for simpler installs.

I already know most of the CC parts can be shapeways printed as I've made some early shapeways oriented designs that pass checks, but I haven't done a prototype print yet to verify things like the threaded rod hole diameters and such since those can be so variable on shapeways.

What size/thread are the control box bolts? I might need to get longer ones to work with a chassis I'm designing.

No disrespect, and don’t take this as me being a punk or jerk, but if you’re going to go to the local hardware store to pick up the screws you might as well bring the hilt and try their service boards

When you posted this this morning I checked and didn’t have anything laying around to check for ya

Tonight I had to pick up from screws for my Halloween costume and brought the AS hero/yuma with me to try

All the screw holes in the AS hero/yuma are 8-32

Thanks Halliwax.
I wish I had a hardware store like that around me. I have to get all my bits and bobs from fleabay.

I just read through this entire thread and I’m genuinely surprised that Thin Neck Reinforcement was never even discussed at any point during the design of this project.
The included heatsink cup is designed for an LED setup, but I’m concerned how Duel Worthy this hilt actually is without any kind of Hardened Steel Reinforcement inside the Thin Neck?
