Limited Run Aluminium M40 Grenade (Aliens Pulse Rifle)

I have a real PR , with working gun parts....curious , I have the same grenades as you are making , and they are T-6061 aluminum , and I was wondering since the grenade launcher on my PR is rough on aluminum ( which I have 1 out of 4 ) grenades , that I chambered and cycled the grenade....it was a little rough on it , any ideas on a grenade more durable to chamber a round ??? Just throwing it out there for general purposes, and knowledge to what would work best

Well, a real shotgun extractor does a number on even real brass. Best idea that pops to mind is going stainless steel. The base knurl would be tough to achieve, but otherwise should be possible to cut.

7075 is a tougher alloy and I did run a couple off in that. Was kind of a pain to work with (but less so than stainless!) Still picks up scratches. The cap is also going to get mashed to bits. About the only alternative I can think of for that is to make the whole thing solid and powder-coat the cap; ordinary paint can't handle the stress.

I agree , the whole thing would need to be a solid structure, scratches on a dummy grenade , I can deal with, just don't want to put any of my button release machined aluminum thru that....if in the future sometime , that if you, ever decide to do a small run , like that , the cap would have to be powder coated to take such a hard hit , chambering....very interesting, thank you for your time on this question sir , at least , if ever one gets done , I know what to aim for to keep loaded in my deactivated 870 grenade launcher....much appreciated sir !!! :D

Well....alternative is to grab some cold-cast resin ones. Cheaper, and you feel less bad when they get dinged up.

There's six left from the last run I did (and I have more metal). Contemplating doing a one-time cost-or-less deal for those who really wanted one but just couldn't afford it.

I'd like one solid and one with a cap, both red. A deal would be great as money is always tight! Would you ship to the UK?

Actually can I have a blue one with cap too. Please let me know the price inc shipping for all three.

Hrm.

The thought of the deal was a one-per-customer and just on an honor system to those who wanted one for the longest time but couldn't afford it.

Otherwise, I'm willing to re-think my prices a little as I do have full-time work these days -- but I also have full-time work these days, meaning my free time is worth even more to me. They still do take 2-3 hours of machine shop work each! I've got the metal and some bodies from the last run so could probably get to about 12 with no more cost to me but the shop time.

Let me think about this a little more.

Totally understandable! I just recently got to make good on my long-time pulse rifle dream, so I may have gotten a little excited :) If you find the time, or want to revise the price I'm still in for 4. If not, I'd still be honored to have just the one.

Same here, first time excited pulse rifle owner! Lol must be contagious. Deal or no deal I'm still looking to get some of these if the price is affordable for me. If it's better for you to make fewer all I really need is one blue cap, one red cap and I'll leave the solid one.

for anyone considering getting these, i have 4 of them and i can tell you they are the bomb! so to speak... heck, i may even order a few more. :)

Are you making solid aluminum without a plastic cap , looking for a solid one just to keep in my 2nd hero version PR....I an currently started work on building..... After 5 Pulse rifles...this will be my last ....lol...I have several spring loaded aluminum grenades.....just looking for 1 solid version....it won't be chambered much ....merely just want it for display purposes in the future !

I've cut solid-body ones in the past. They are a bit annoying as it is hard to get a clean separation line between painted top and body. There's two other problems; paint-on-aluminium is too easy to scratch, and a lot of the shotgun guts that are used for PR's can't quite handle the full length (since with cap built in it ends up slightly longer than any stock ammunition). In my opinion, using a plastic cap has no real downside but gives you a lot more flexibility in return.

That said, I'd do another as as a special case.

I will start up another official run of these soon. I'm in the middle of a show right now so probably won't be able to do significant shop time until March is over. Could probably get eight out the door this month, tho.

It is April and the next run is officially started. As per the first page, I'm normalizing at $40 ea with combined shipping of up to four at $6 flat rate to CONUS ($25 most overseas markets). I have six ready to go today and will be able to fab the next ones over the coming couple of weeks.

Here's the new list, which I will be updating as information comes in:

54-57 veektohr (two red, two blue, paid $166, SHIPPED 11/4/2016)

58-59 spoudastis (two red, paid $86, SHIPPED 11/4/2016)

Places held for damster117 and gyoung2993

Please let me know if I botched any orders in the back-and-forth there. Otherwise this is going to bed for a while.

However; related, I put up -- with Matsu's permission -- a 3d printable model for the caseless "case" at my Shapeways store. This is open hardware; I'm not charging a markup so it is whatever the cost is at Shapeways, and you can download the model from there and print it yourself.

Have you got ant more to sell? If so i will take 3. Shipped to the uk

I have one left but it's hard to find time for machining these days. (Found full-time work). Well, maybe once the current project gets put to bed I'll be able to contemplate another short run of these.
