"Allo" Worm from the Labyrinth

Here's my li'l dude as is.
Still need to feather the edges, add the fur... And am still considering dremelling the eyes concave, painting the iris, then filling with superglue for a more eye-ey effect
Looking good. I've been contemplating doing something with the eye too. Originally i was going to drill them out and put in some clear red plastic animal eyes I bought from the craft store eons ago for another project, but they were a couple millimeters too big. For now I'll just paint them up regular and put a few coats of Future on them. Then if I come up with a good idea down the line a ways, I can always mod it.
Oooh!, maybe I can find some clear beads that are the right size.

As for the eyes, I was thinking the same thing when I started painting, but I figured if I didn't place it correctly, then it would require more work. I used Mr. Clear for the clear coat since it's the best gloss coat I've found.
But if you guys try it, I'd love to know how it turns out.

Been experimenting with the Dremel tool - I found an old, awful recast of SD Blanka from Street Fighter, so his ass now has a little eye dent on it!
Need to find superglue!

Intermediary for me, yes. When it's done it will look like the screen captures. With oils, sometines you just need to slap on a swatch of color, and let it dry a while before trying to put a much lighter or darker contrasting color over it. If not you end up with a brown mushy mess.
Took darn near an hour, but I finally have enough blue hair for a worm or two:
I'm still not done painting the worms, as the oils are taking much longer to dry than I expected. This is a new brand of oil paint for me. I'm off work Sunday and Monday, so I hope to finish them up by then, but the Phaser Rifle I'm almost finished takes priority, as I HAVE to have that shipped before I leave for my trip to Utah.
To my client: Dude, I hope to have this shipped out by then too, but the way this paint is taking to dry, I think it would be best if it waited until I get back on the 25th to be absolutely sure it wont get stuck to the bubble wrap on the way to you. If it's going to be a problem, or you really can't wait that long, PM me and we'll figure something out. I apologize for the hold up.

That's what sucks with oils, it blends beautifully, but takes forever to dry.
I stick with acrylics nowadays and having an airbrush doesn't hurt either

I have all of the above, but when it comes to painting humans and smooth-ish creatures, you can't get a better realistic look than with oils.

i used oils quite a lot back in the day. try putting it under a lamp or on a heater, it dries it a lot quicker, thats what i did when i used to work with them. oils are far better than acrylics in my opinion.

Good idea but don't make the mistake I did. I was painting a bust of a Roman Centurion for a client and left it under a lamp to dry out. It dried allright, it dried up and shrank so the poor guys face looked like a relief map of the grand canyon.
Motto of this faux pas, by all means use a lamp....a LOW wattage bulb not the 60w I used.

I know you've found better stuff, Sith_Lord_Hritz - Is it easier to work with than the feathery batch? that was a nightmare! There's blue fluff everywhere! LOL
Dabbed on with hot glue in the interim, anyway.
My idea for the eyes seems to be working OK so far - Need to finish off the irises a bit more, then add the superglue.

Just a bit of a hint guys on what we did with the hair.
We used the tiniest drill bit we had and placed holes on the areas where the "hair" went. It makes a huge difference and a bit easier to place the hair (using feathers with a quill made it painless).
Just dab a bit of superglue on the hole, twist up the bottom of the right amount of hair and place in the hole. She also trimmed the "hair" with a small pair of scissors.
A heads up and this goes for anyone painting these, the upper portion of the inside of the mouth are gums, not teeth, since worms dont have them. . . well I guess worms can't talk or wear a snazzy scarf either. . .but that's what my wife said they are

I was wondering how I was going to make It look like the hair was growing out of his head instead of just sitting on it. The other hair I got is very similar to what TridCloudwalker is using for his worm, and yes I know the first hair was hard to use after trying it on mine that’s when I decided to find a more hair like material that can be combed and groomed after its in place. Everyone who bought the first kit from me also has some of the new hair I got on the way that I shipped today. I think it will look very realistic if you use VashDstampede tip on drilling holes to seat the hair in. And for the eyes that’s a good idea also im going to try that as well. Also I was going to wait to paint him until I got a airbrush but seeing people starting to work on theirs has the bug biting me to start mine. Question after I paint on the colors what in the best way to blend them altogether so the skin looks real?

I started with a base coat of grey primer, then light flesh-tone acrylic.
Then a wash of watered-down dark blue to fill the cracks, and a second wash of purple ink to blend the blue out a bit and give further definition.
After that, I switched to the airbrush and applied varying layers of purple ink, light blue, dark blue and a dark green/blue mix, with the odd bout of drybrucsing fleshtone for highlights.
The face was repainted fleshtones, with a slight hint of pink to the cheeks, and a pink mouth with gloss red for the tongue and a very dark red ( Almost black ) dropped into the throat.
The eyes were a base of white, then gloss read with bright yellow brushed on radially whilst the red was still tacky... Then a big ol' drop of gloss black with the eyes pointing straight up.
