I'd agree, except all of the "crap" added to it actually serves a purpose and would greatly benefit whoever wielded the rifle.

He's pretty big into airsoft. Don't be too disappointed if this is just one of the modified airsoft rifles he uses when he plays, and he's having a bit of fun. He's posted photos on instagram of his airsoft guns before.

I'm not buying this as something that will actually appear in the movie. He's just slapped a bunch of off-the-shelf add-ons onto it for a bit of fan-bait. Looks like he's been playing too much Aliens Colonial Marines - a laser sight and a red-dot? A real marine uses a groove :lol

It looks too modern day to me. They need to remove the holo site and the AN/PEQ-ish looking illuminator from the side.

I am not so sure if its an airsoft pulse rifle. Unless it was like custom built, i don't think that its the regular off the shelf one with some attachments. A lot of little details on the base weapon are different. Extra details on the rail, extra screws in some places, and the biggest difference is probably the pump. on the original and on the airsoft rifle the "grooves" are grooves, they are recessed. In this new photo the "grooves" are proud.

Yup. Saw the differences. There are Many more differences. This is why I said modified. It looks nothing like the off the shelf version. But Blomkamp has a lot of money and he's buddies with lots of prop guys, and I suspect he's a prop guy himself, so I would have to imagine his personal airsoft pulse rifle would be tricked out. Mind you, if this is the real deal, I'm good with it. I love the new pump grip, and the small details are cool. I'd love to see more!
