ALIEN Warrior head refurbishing project.....

*thumbs up*
Tight...like a tiger....

Like a tiger indeed! Thank you:)
Its not done yet, gotta dry brush the small rim tubing to bting it out a it and maybe darken the whole thing in a black/blue sheen before clear coating. Oh and of course the teeth and jaw have to be done with tendons and lips so look forward to that tomorrow evening.

Gotta match it to this so I have some work ahead of me:

Wow. Love the paint job!

Thank ya much Art!
Trying to nail what was actually used during filming as opposed to the idealized and overly complicated Sideshow job, or the common solid black. Need to finish the teeth and install the jaw, lips, tendons to get the full effect and see if I pulled it off.

Yep there was an issue lol as always.
I finished my paint job and tiny circles of liquid formed on the surface of the head while it was drying. I can only figure that the Home Depot spray foam I used to fill the head had not cured deep within, and forced uncured urethane out of tiny pores in the shell...under the paint...screwing it up...
I put it out in the sun for an afternoon and it seemed to vent out and stop weeping that liquid. I took the head back inside, cleaned the affected areas with some solvent and repaired them as best I could. It helped alot but didnt 100% fix it to my standards.

To get rid of the visible seam line on the front of the skull on the smooth part is to basically grind it away - making an V-shaped indention into the skull and then fill it, as you'll never get rid of it completely just by sanding it down.

Really is top notch work.

Thankya thankya!
I used this opportunity to try the tendons and jaw placement. Even though the paint job is slightly flawed this has become somehthing im actually proud of:)

I think it would be better looking with some kissable lips. :) :love

Well i was gonna put boobs on it but...OK, so I put boobs on it. Sue me!
Kidding. I kid:)

Actually It did have lips on it yesterday but that seemed to kinda cut its balls off no matter how I tweaked it. Went back to the bare teeth reaching out and the scariness came back.

That is what makes the Sideshow look so good, the lips. You don't realize the complexity of all the facial features of the aliens from Aliens until you see one of those. What are the dimensions of this skull? I heard the Sideshow was undersized.

what'd you make the tendions with???

Oh those are butchered condoms. SUperglued in place and later cemented down with a layer of clear epoxy.

That thing looks so good it must have tiger blood and Adonis DNA...

And is a winner!

I dunno about that. Those meaty lips on the SS head were never on any of the ones in the film, they were made by sideshow. Actually, most of the aliens had NO lips at all. Plenty of reference pics around showing that. The hero heads with lips had used thin condoms for lips as well. Actually it was sliced condoms glued to guitar wire that encircled the teeth.
The head is 34" long ans 10" high.

They better be double D's.
haha double yes

I touched it up a bit more and finished the other side last night.
