Alien Vessel - New Build

I know exactly what you mean!

Though, I seem mostly to be 'comic relief...'

Which role I perform proudly!

I was wondering if you have seen the old pen-and-paper RPG Traveller? This reminds me of some of the less cylindrical images of a Fat Trader.
Hey TheBeast! I haven't seen any of that. I will definitely check it out. Thank you

I made some more progress on the build today. I added a shuttlebay entrance at the back and made the magnetic cover for the battery compartment. There are still quite a few rough spots, but those will get covered over by paneling and piping and other misc stuff

I've been doing some more work on the new build. I'm hoping to have the physical portion of the build done this weekend with hopefully a first coat of primer on it... Crossing fingers :) Here are a couple of the most recent pictures (last night). I have started to work on the bottom, but it's quite sparse right now. I also noticed a few more light leaks from around the engines. I'll have to do some work to try and minimize those :(. Thank you again to Carlb for sharing your awesome recent build to provide inspiration for some of my greeblies and tubing!!

Well, the poor ship didn't get its coat of primer this weekend. It seems like there is always more to do on the physical structure before getting to that point. I got some more work done on the bottom with panels and piping and some more general detailing around the outer structure. A couple of the light leaks have been reduced though! I still need to make a couple of big honkin space guns for the sides, and figure out what I'm going to do with the squared off front sections. I'm just waiting for it to "talk to me" to see what it wants to be, lol.

Looking good and you probably know that empty spaces devoid of greeblies are as important as the one with them(y)(y)
Almost like poesy: it's the space between the lines that are as important as the words;)

Thank you Joberg! It's kind of funny that you say that about the open spaces. I keep thinking I need to fill in all the gaps, etc.. But I was just looking at some other ships for inspiration and noticed a lot of them have lots of open areas with nothing but panel lines or similar. I also keep forgetting that these vessels take on a whole new look once the paint is on them as well! Thank you for the reminder

I'll be away from the hobby desk for a few days for a road trip with my wife for her birthday, but I did manage to get a few more things done on the current build. I've been struggling to try and come up with a basic gun design for the ship but couldn't think of a good design with the bits that I had laying around. I ended up doing some digital kit-bashing and 3d printed a few to mount in their appropriate spots. No primer going on till we get back from our little get-away. A video will be coming out on the build of this one as well... Then on to the next .
