Alien Romulus Pulse Rifle?

Moviefreak, does the trigger move? It doesn't look like it. But I always worry someone's going to pick it up and what's the first thing they do? Pull the trigger! CRACK!
And thanks for sharing your behind-the-scenes info! :)

Chris
There's a little disclaimer at the bottom that says Please note this is a static replica and has no moving parts or working electronics.

bummer

Moviefreak - do you know how much it weighs?
I have the same question for another HCG piece that went up for preorder this week...

I have about 100 images of the screen used guns, provided by the studio, and you would be shocked how grimy the guns were. I suspect the studio lighting washed that out and the weathering looked minimized on film.
The weathering definitely looks minimized on screen. I need to preorder one asap, I’m just trying to decide which one. Most likely the weathered version, even though it’s more grimy than what I saw in the movie. Lol I just wish it had working electronics.

EDIT: Just preordered the weathered version. Also, this will be my first HCG prop.

If it was me, I would order a clean version and add the wear & tear to it and to my liking. I think the weathered version is too grimy...just my two cents;)

That's precisely why we offer two versions. ;)
Just like selling both, the OD Green and Brown Bess pulse rifles; some people prefer "prop accurate" colors, while others want the screen-used look. Therefore, both options were made available.

Regarding the grimy appearance, without revealing too much from the photos, here's the actual prop as presented by the studio.

You can see how dirty the screen-used one was. This doesn't mean there weren't multiple versions created for production with varying degrees of weathering; we just based ours on the version provided to us by the studio.

I thought about that. My problem is that I’ve never done anything like that before. So I wouldn’t know how or where to begin in doing that, to where I’m not ruining the pulse rifle or making it look bad or weird.

The props that I do have, or have had in the past — EFX and Master Replicas, I leave alone. If weathered versions are offered, I tend to go for those. As those are depicted as being more screen accurate, which is my preference. I do have a few Roman Props hilts and a Snow Wolf/Matrix OD green pulse rifle. I’m leaving those as is.

Maybe I’ll grab a clean version of the pulse rifle as well, just to have. Keep it clean, or maybe to mod one day if I have the nerve to.

Ah, that's some beautiful grime  Thanks for showing that (y)

Weathering is fun, I had my first crack at it when modding my Snow Wolf pulse rifle (seen here)...but with that piece I wasn't satisfied with the stock coloring, so a repaint was definitely going to happen. With something like the HCG Romulus pulse rifle, I think both versions look great and I don't think I'd want to mess with it at that price point, unless I was really confident I could make it look better.

Hi! One question, does anybody know the actual size of it related to the M41A? I totally think i printed mine too small, but i tried to measure it printing just the grip.
The grip feels as good as the M41A but the rest of the pulse rifle is so tiny

I've seen Flyscriber's prototype 'in the flesh' and I thought it looked small compared to how it looked on screen. I would presume replicas are being scaled from the Thompson mag release. Problem is if that detail is actually larger than the equivalent real steel version. It may be we won't get accurate dimensions until the HCG replica ships.

Keep in mind that most women are smaller than men (though I think Sigorney is at least 6' if I remember correctly, Cailee Spaeny looks really tiny). So the typical woman holding the rifle will make the rifle appear larger to most men. The only shot from the movie I could find where a guy is holding it is attached: hard to tell but to me it does look smaller when he's holding it.

And as Birdie pointed out, using the Thompson mag release AND the Thompson circular-rectangle-thingie above the trigger (you have yours on the left of your F44) and basing the scale on those 2 pieces should help IF the prop creators didn't scale those up or down. Not sure why they would, but you never know. Hopefully they used actual Thompson parts.
