Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question (GOT MY FRIENDS MATRIX. AWESOME!!!!)

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

Jameth, the issue with the barrel droop occured with the HGC PR. The problem was the whole grenade/barrel section was glued to the front of the resin Thompson. It was not allowed to dry properly after that. Whatever they did with them after gluing the front on, the front was not supported, as the glue dried the grenade/barrel started drooping. Most likely they were glued and set standing up on the mag base without any support under the grenade section. Some arrived better than others. Some customers were able to fix the droop by heating them up in an oven or leaving the PR upside down in the hot sun allowing them to droop back into position!

A lot of people took their grenade sections off to replace with real steel parts. The reason being that the shrouds on the HGC were aluminum. People wanted an all metal PR. You can sometimes find people here selling the resin HGC GL assembly.

Matsu did full builds and sold parts (shrouds, GL, remington parts, etc.) seperately as well. Not sure if he still does though.

And like others have said, the real PR's were painted Humbrol Brown Bess. It's a brownish color with a bit of an olive hue. On screen it looked olive drab, in person it looked brown. Mine was painted to look like what I saw on screen. Brown Bess has long been out of production. Small tins of the paint show up from time to time. Like the vintage Graflex if the seller knows what he has expect to pay a premium for it. Stay away from the Humbrol "Super Enamel" version of Brown Bess as it is not the same color.

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

Excellent. Thanks for all your help.

Really wanting a Matsuo kit I saw on his forum.

Of course this is way, way off planning.

Thanks again

Yeah exactly what Robiwon said, its nice to see the variation of that color , always loved the HBB differences, wish that color was still around...:cry

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

When I built mine I bought two tins of the "Super Enamel" BB and discovered it was not the same. I was a bit depressed to say the least! I went with Krylon olive drab in their camo series of paints.

I still have those tins if anyone wants them. They are Humbrol, they are Brown Bess, but they are not the same shade as the original Brown Bess.

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

I would say the main question here is how much money do you have to throw at this project.

As said a 'screen accurate' version (and that's if you can still get some of the parts) will cost 1,000s of dollar or pounds. Best to start off with something that can be upgraded as time and funds go on, if not available immediately.

Personally I think Matsuo shrouds are the best and he is the expert. I think you can find him on Devaintart at the moment or his own site matsucorp.com, (but you say you've tried that)

The base guns is you are unsure are: -
Thompson M1A1
Spas12 cage with a Remington 870 inside.

I would get Airsoft M1A1
Real steel cage (Armourer over on Alienslegacy.com has for sale on occations. This place will give you a whelth og information)
And either real 870 (if you are permitted) or resin from Matt.

this would give a good base to start with and develop.
Evike also sell a conversion kit to wrap it in.

I tried PMing Matsuo but he has not gotten back to me.

Thanks for all the info.

This is all way of future planning so we will see.

I really liked the kit I saw here:

Baby Pics. Just finished my MatsuCorp PR!! in Pulse Rifle Forum

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

Ah, pulsey porn.

Have a look at www.TK560.com
Very nice build thread and Phil S at the bottom does some nice metal upgrades.

Also www.m41a.com Not much in the way of updates recently, but good information and the marui/ACM adaptor is a useful piece of kit which solves a lot of problems, but again if you can pick one up.

I always liked this one

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

Matsuo , will get in touch with you soon , he always does......just give him a little time and Im sure he will answer every question in detail, as he has done for me several times

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

Sorry, I did not mean that Matt is not bothering. I just PMd him last night. I just meant I had not heard back yet. I did not mean that to sound like anything else.

He and I have been PMing back and forth all evening. He was very helpful and is the guy I want to go through if I can afford it.

I ordered the Matrix Airsoft Pulse Rifle for a friend. He is a huge Pulse Rifle fan but will never be able to afford even the Airsoft so I got it for him for Christmas. His wife is not as cool as mine so I wanted to do something nice for him. He's not like us,..he is normal, so he will just love the Airsoft totally and completely.

I'm gonna try next year, after things turn around hopefully and get some other stuff taken care of, to go with Matt's all metal parts. I really like what I've seen of his Pulse Rifles.

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

That was cool of you to buy him a PR. Will you adopt me?

Sorry, can only afford one.

I had to up my order of Grenades from SD Studios from 3 to 5 so I had two for him. One for the chamber of the shotgun replacing that plastic looking one and one for display.

I should not be too tough on his wife. Once she is through nursing school she wants him to quit Costco and pursue his interests, but the guy just can't seem to get a break so I'm glad I can swing it for him.

I'll upgrade his Pulse Rifle as I go, accurize it, add extra mags, Noble's sling and mag clip adapters.

He's always been a good friend.

Alright enough of that happy good feeling crap:

Real deactivated Thompson Vs. All metal Airsoft. other than being "real" is there any advantage????????

Dont take what I said wrong , I was merely just trying to reassure you ,thats all , glad to hear you both got the communication rolling , he is a super guy , no doubt.......:thumbsup

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

I bought a snow wolf back in April.

Couldn't be happier with it. It was affordable, has moving parts, weighs a fair amount and impresses everyone who stops by the mancave.

Sure, it's got a few details different, but for the price you cannot go wrong.

It's well built and looks great in the collection :)

All the best - whatever you decide to do!

No worries.

He has been a real help. Since SD Studios is wrapping up PR building it looks like Matt will be the only source for Metal PRs.

Any chance you could post some good pics???

I'm really torn, assuming things turn around and I could even afford it, Matt's deluxe real parts all metal PR would be awesome. On the other hand a nice inexpensive Airsoft and have a big chunk of change left over would also be super cool. Matt's lower end kit, like the one pictured at the above link is also ubber nice.

Decisions, decisions.

Oh well, as a great man once said, "right now I could not get out of sight if it took a quarter to go around the world."

Re: Airsoft Pulse Rifles Question

Just so you know, the airsoft Thompson is not all metal. The upper reciever is metal and quite nice. I had a Tokyo Marui Thompson on my G&P kit. It had accurate markings on it. The second PR I built, with Matsu shrouds, used a Cyma (I believe) Thompson. Both have metal upper recievers, but the lower reciever on both are plastic. The Cyma also had bright white tampo printed markings, most of which were hidden by the shrouds and stock.

He is correct in all his statements....if ever you seek information.....just ask Master Robiwon , He will give you tons of info and how to build lightsabers , and models, and work on your car, how to replace a water heater , lol....just kidding Robiwon , dont curse me....lol....
Robiwon knows like many others , there are so many variations to building these props ,depending how much you are willing to spend to acheive your goal......(y)thumbsup:thumbsup...if you love to build your prop that fits you, than you cant go wrong either way....I took an airsoft upper reciever and milled it out ,since it was metal that worked for me then to add real thompson gun parts to that upper reciever which worked exceptionally well with the buffer guide spring , reciever bolt and buffer guide assembly and the reason I did that is because no one had an upper real thompson reciever that was in tact , so I got real gun internal parts and added those , still works ,so I did the only thing I could,at that time , my next PR is going to be more complete with a real upper reciever
