After Earth (Post-release)

Love Will smith in pretty much anything, his kid on the other hand? Not so much. I have to agree with the others saying I feel like he is being FORCED upon the world. Just like his acting, very forced and at times wince inducing from the point of how uncomfortable it makes me feel. Will Smith is a naturally talented and charismatic actor. Although some of his movie choices leave a little to be desired (I am legend for example). I was skeptical about this movie to begin with because I was anticipating this sort of flick when I first heard about it and, unfortunately, it appears from the reviews that my assumptions were correct. Now if only I could channel that power into the next winning lottery ticket LOL.

How come they have these high tech spacesuits that can do everything BUT keep them warm during a cold night ? Maybe I missed some explanation for this ... but it just bugs me.

its funny i never noticed the whole whiny will kid thing but reading this thread made me think. i watched the movie and it was disappointing a bit. love will(no ****) but like yall say, leave the kids at home..... although i liked karate kid. RPF is awesome!

Please gentlemen, lets take a step back from this whole "forcefeeding Jaden down our throats" and take a look at the movie itself...

I actually liked it!
Why? well, it was an entertaining popcorn-flick, with nice action-sequences, good scenery, CGI and pace.

Don´t see the whole point about Jadens acting abilities!?
What kind of acting do you expect by someone, who is chased by monsters and is simply trying to make his way through a hostile environment??? :huh

Is Schwarzenegger known for good acting, HELL NO!!!
He is one of the worst actors I´ve seen on the big screen, but his movies were entertaining and -most of them- very successful.

So please, buy yourself a drink and a pile of popcorn or nachos and have a nice time ;)

Just my humble opinion.

Markus

The kind of acting Sigourney Weaver did in Aliens...and alien.
I have not yet seen this movie btw.. :p

I've seen the movie. He was more convincing acting being scared of Chinese bullies in "The Kung Fu Kid" than he was of any of the animals or the Ursa in this movie. He really wasn't convincing in "After Earth"

Is he as annoying as in "the day earth stood still" ?

I can't really speak to that, I didn't watch more than a few minutes of the Keanu version.

good for you....damn i wish Keanu dident stop the nanobots from wiping the earth from humans, just because of that annoying kid..

Your welcome guys. People may say what they will about Will Smith, but you gotta admit he's a real all round solid entertainer. Fresh Prince is still as funny today as it was when it first came out when I was about 11, that is down to the comedic performance of Mr Smith IMO.

He should get back into comedy.

Agreed, when he dips into a comedic moment in his action movies he does it very naturally, but he can also pullout some real serious performances when needed. I though he did a fantastic job in I Robot. It's the type of duality that Arnold attempted (and failed at) in his action films.
That said I still have no interest it this particular film. ;)

Yes I would advise against it, I went to watch it at the weekend and as soon as I saw M Night Shayamlananan's name come up on the screen I knew I was in trouble. It's not a horrible movie, but it's not great either.

M. Night on deleted scenes.

This is the cut that I think worked best for the movie and the characters. There are scenes that were right on the edge, but I always try to err on non-indulgence.

Did he just say he cut out scenes because they were too indulgent? Holy crap. He'll be walking on his two legs in no time!

Another mediocre outing. Half the film is the kid running through the woods. And this protective outfit doesn't have gloves and head gear? The kid isn't much of an actor and Will, who I usually like, was stiff. I've seen worse but I've seen lots better. Very disposable film.

Will keeps getting into projects that could be so much more. This needed a better writer, for sure a better director, and his kid not in it while I am legend needed a better writer and director. No to mention a woman roaming around with a kid in tow with a city full of zombies to find someone you heard on the radio is idiotic.
