Limited Run Accurate RotJ Force Pike - Weapon of the Emperor's Royal Guard

Hi friend! Did you start sending out the final payment requests? Just wanted to make sure I'm on the lookout for it!

Well, there's good and bad news, they're all here and the machining is perfect, even cleaner than the prototype.

Unfortunately the finish on the grip section has some problems. The polishing itself is very nice, smoother than the prototype, but when they masked off the parts to be anodised they weren't as careful as I'd have liked, you can see where they haven't gone all the way to the edge:

There's also a few where they've polished off some of the anodising on the black parts:

And there's remnants of black where the grip section joins the main shaft:

The end result of this is that the grip sections will have to be sent back and redone to achieve the standard that I'm looking for and as much as I hate to say it, we're going to be delayed and at this time I don't know how long :(

Now, it's possible that some of you intend to paint over the black and/or weather the pikes or possibly want the pike ASAP and don't care about minor finish issues. If that's the case for you please let me know and I can ship those straight to you instead of shipping them back for refinishing.

I apologise for this delay and I know it's frustrating. I was super happy with the prototype and while I'm pleased they improved the overall finish, obviously I'm not happy that they sacrificed the consistent lines to achieve it.

Curse you and your high standards! ;)

Seriously, thank you for the detailed update and your desire to deliver a flawless product. I really do appreciate it. I'm in no rush, so happy to wait for the handles to be redone to meet your standards.

Being as these were Royal Guards, I think these would be the one thing in the galaxy NOT weathered & beaten up (the way the rest of Star Wars is). The Emperor would except nothing less.
I'm cool with continuing to wait. No worries. I'll be happy when your happy (y)
Thanks for the update.

Hi Tom, thanks for the update. It's a bit of a shame, but I too am happy to wait and appreciate your efforts to ensure the best finished product possible .
Given that this only affects one out of the four parts and they're already machined, I can't imagine it would take them too long to do the touch-ups, but I guess there are a few (50 odd) to do. Did this issue affect every handle, to a greater or lesser extent, or are there some that already meet your expectations? Doesn't matter either way, just curious.

Hi Tom, cheers for the update mate. Im more then happy to wait for for the handles to be redone to meet your standards

BTW what is the diameter of the lower part of the pike please? Looking to see if it will fit in a saberstand holder

I followed this over from Forcepike. net. I'd be interested in paying in full and getting shipped out to me in it's current condition.

(I have the same name here and there)

Ok guys I have been through most of the pikes and there are a few where the finish issues are really quite minor, once I've managed to check the rest over thoroughly I'll try and get some pics of each acceptable one showing the imperfections in detail and then start contacting those that have asked for early shipment and see where we're at. The rest will be sent back to the shop to be fixed :)

First off, as requested by Keller here's a nice close-up vid of the hob/rasp/gear part, machined in steel with the taper polished:

Ok, so I have 8 pikes with minor issues and as far as I can tell this is the current list of people who have said they'd rather have an imperfect pike shipped sooner:

roygilsing - Pike 1
can-tala mclaren - Pike 2
FacelessM - Pike 3
Keller - Pike 4
glottis - Pike 6
Johnnyb - Pike 8
DylsNyls - Pike 7

Here are close ups of the 8 pikes, please comment or message me if you'd like one of these.

Pike 1 - Some black on the bottom silver band, imperfect black/silver boundary on pommel, some matte finish on the top silver band and a little black lost on the edge of the faceted part:

Pike2 - Imperfect black/silver boundary, some matte finish on the pommel silver, a little black lost on the edge of the faceted part:

Pike 3 - Some matte finish on both silver bands, a little black lost on both lower edges, a little black on the pommel band and a little black lost on the pommel edges:

Pike 5 - Probably the worst of the good ones. Black lost on both upper edges by bands, imperfect silver/black boundary on pommel:
