Academy Award / oscar.

Hey! That one's actually pretty cool looking! Any chance that you can post a link to the website where it is sold?

I checked and they only sell online for people inside sweden.

Not even close folks.

Looks like a 3rd grader sculpted it.
The most annoying thing is the head. The real one have a more square look to it.
But it could be a start for a custom remodeling of it.

BTW how big is the oscar statue? anyone know the size of only the figure..

Mine is 10" tall (no base) with the reel at the bottom being 3 5/16" in diameter.

The base made by me from pics of a 1977 Oscar is 5 1/4" at the bottom, 3 5/16" tall.

You know...I'm getting a little nervous talking about this in an open forum. Am I just paranoid? :confused

There's an Oscar statue at Universal on the lower lot near Jurassic Park. Forget who it belonged to though...

I am nervous too, especially with the photo micdavis keeps posting. To me, that is way too close.

It's touching how nervous you are for Mic. :lol
Seriously, though, are you afraid the Academy is going to shut down the RPF forever?

Mic made his own Oscar. He isn't the first and he won't be the last.

Mine is very close to that. I wish I could have gotten someone to gold plate it for me. Gold paint doesn't do it justice.

Maybe I am wrong but that is a casting of a real Oscar and Mic made the base only?

Huh? What? Where?

:lol:lol LMAO!!!! :lol:lol

I agree with droidboy. This is a very taboo prop. :eek Ive seen probably 3 or 4 perfect replicas in my day and have held a couple. :love The Academy really cracks down on replicators of this statue.

My question is if someone could get some photos of a real one, maybe accidentally hold some Digital Fractional Calipers next to it, what's to stop them from making a personal Oscar trophy not intended for sale just to have in their house?

Are there legal problems with this? I could see the Academy (assuming they troll around on the RPF would see any photos of someone holding said calipers up to said stature and get a little pissed about it. But what could they do about it? Last I checked it isn't illegal to get measurements of a real Oscar and post pics.

Is it only an American thing to not replicate the oscar?
Because fairly accurate copies can be found in almost every gift shop down here... :confused
