Academy Award / oscar.

Interesting...

I always wonder what things always become a big deal, what I never thought...

I remember, about 10 years you can buy a oscar replica in every store...

If you ask me, AMPAS is the dramatic one when it comes to the Oscar. A replica is a replica, and like many of the props we know and love, a replica is nothing like holding the real thing.

The Grammy and Emmy Academys arent nearly as dramatic when it comes to the Oscar, even tho the Grammy are also in some terms to be given back after death, but I do see the Grammy/ Emmy for sale often.

About 2 years ago, I saw really descent resin replicas popping up and scoring around $200+ a piece on Ebay. I thought about snagging one for my home theater, but thought the price was too high, so I never jumped at them. I saw those for a couple months, then never again. Perhaps that is the person they buried in that end zone??)

When I was a kid these oscars were about $20, I wish I had bought one... Of course now you can't find it anywhere... The only stuff what you find are different figures, but they are not very close...

Our local Sci-Fi club used to give out achieivement awards.

We took 3PO model kit, cut it up and posed him like Oscar, then cast it and made a couple dozen awards.

Holy Crap!! If that really is your replica, I would remove the photo at once and take your posting down stating that you even have it.

why.... after the beginning of this thread, are people still confused as to why we shouldn't even be talking about this subject, lol.

Weird Al Yankovic got the cr@p sued out of him for having a replica Oscar statue featured in the movie 'UHF'.
In the film he's daydreaming that he's Indy and the 'Oscar' is his Golden Idol.
Funny scene but it got him in some trouble.

I received this statue about 10 years ago. It features the Oscar like pose with a twist! Its the Mad Hatter! lol Won it from The Third Mad Model Party Convention they used to do in Pasadena.

Needless to say I think its a lot cooler than an Oscar, lol. (y)love

I qualified for an oscar nomination a few years ago. But that's not even close to actually having one. But the point is, you are better off trying to win one than buying a replica. Its more fun that way anyway. Plus it comes with extra perks no replica can replicate.

Or you could buy a real one, they pop up for sale from time to time.

They have to be pre 1950's though.
