ABC Lifesize head from scratch...

It might be near Xmas, but I'm not handing it to you on a silver platter! Guess the rest!

Now go do something useful.

Jingle bells jingel bells jingle all the way! oh what fun it is to ride on a something something something.....

Thanks very much Sir Round I do appreciate that. i will post some pics of what dimensions I've come up with so far cheers and have a good holiday,

oota.

well I've done a bit of mucking around today with dimensions, trying reconcile measurements from the propstore (eg height 330mm), Zorg (head detail 42mm), pics from golden armour and Art, and the measurements you've posted and here' s what I've come up with..

I'm aware that this is your thread for your build Sir Round not mine so if you'd prefer me to move this pic I am happy to do so. I'm not quite ready to actually start building this yet so am hoping to park it here for a bit :)

I'll do a front-on pic soon. I've had to reprint the profile a few times to try and get close

Zorg WOW!!! ummm.....wow!

That's a mighty set of measurements you've got there :) I am off to check my template right now!

I think maybe a Zorg refers to the depth of an edge/ groove. So the head edges and grooves 1 or 2 zorgs high/ deep. :confused

And I was just fooling around.

I was aiming at the "ZORG" words... Nevermind, yet it was funneh to me at the moment.

i got it from ebay, 1/9th scale kit, similar or the same as Sir rounds I think. It looks pretty close to the screen robot. Just measure and multiply to get 1:1 scale!

I have been thinking about how to tackle this project. I think I'm going to start with the feet first, with a steel or aluminium armiture, maybe bent slightly to give it some movement, maybe jointed so it can move.

it's like a damn itch i can't stop scratching!!

Did you get a real Tsukuda kit or a Thai recast? If so, the latter are way smaller due to endless recasting recasts recasts recasts.

ummmm so maybe I got a 1/10th kit? 1/11th?:facepalm

I'll be able to work out a multiplier from the head.

the ABC Robot is meant to be 8ft?

Man I'm so stoked by this build up.. I was going to start work and puppet master thing but this is way cooler. I think for my end result I would like to try and tackle a metal one . I think I should crawl before I run.. Obw if need be I'm a graphic artist with a printer. so if you need something scaled up to a 1:1 let me know i would be more then happy to help any way I can. As you can tell from my post count is low since I'm new here. thanks for a great thread....

cool kustom sounds good! My plan is to scale up and pattern off the kitset. At this stage I think I'm going to make plywood frames and clad them in plastic, heating the bending the plastic as I need.

a metal one would be awesome. I'm thinking more of a graphite powder and resin coating to get a similar effect

Style wise I'm looking to make an ABC warrior not necessarily hammerstein. I'm going to stick to the film prop for the most part but I am thinking of changing the shoulder pads back closer to the comic and maybe adding a bit more armour.

Ideally i'd like to buy a head rather than build purely from a time saving point of view. The head would be the best part to make I think but it would be pretty time consuming....

Other thoughts are to add a hammer and just make one hand, and make a removable helmet.......:wacko
