AAV Drop Ship

I am learning so much from this thread: wood working and metal working combined into model making... very nice!

I heated up the 0.8 mm aluminum sheet up to about 230 c deg with a hand torch and cooled it down slowly.
How could I know it's 230 c deg? It's a secret. Na... Just draw some line with a magic marker pencil. When it's erased, It's 230 c deg.

That is clever!

I love how the body shell turned out. That was sure a lot of hammering and sanding.

I once did a box made of bronze where I hammered in some faces and that was a real pain. Instead of using a wood backing I remeber using some kind of soft "resin" type of form

and this is also a very wise tip...
We all need a patience. But there are a few good point at accompany shopping with your wife. Follow your partner and check the things she interested in. Sometimes it may be a little expensive jewelry or accessories she hesitates to buy. Sometimes it may be a handbag of her favorite or a sweater. Check the color or patterns her favorite taste. Maybe it's gonna be a good reference when you consider her birthday gift or something.

That nap was well earned. Beautiful job on that part.

I can just imagine how impressed your father and grandfather would be to see how creative you are, and pleased that the chisel is still being used.

Thank you for the kind words, Tom san. More than 50 years ago, my father told me how to use those tools and sharpen them.
91 if he is alive. He died at the age of mine now.

Beautiful metal work, as always! Looking really great, Katsu-san... looking forward to seeing her done.

Thank you, korben-san and g0rb-san.
In fact, as I'm looking at the large pics, I just realized that still there are many scars and dimples all over. It may need another sanding polishing and glazing putty. Oh I need a younger eyeball.

Bronze is harder than aluminum, so I guess it may need a hard backing or anvil.

And that's the secret tips to survive.
That's why my wife hasn't dump me yet. ;)

Primer and paint might even out the look.
On the other hand, the fuselage looks like it's seen some action. If the wings and engines were similarly finished, it could give the craft a tougher appearance.

Ahh... I was thinking the same (really?). cough.

Thanks!

Made a bottom plate and sanded and polished a bit more again and fitted on top the wing.

I wanna take some nap again this afternoon.

Thanks for looking.

The next part is build a canopy. So far, I'm thinking the vacuum forming with a wooden plug and acrylic transparent sheet.
I'm now making a plug.

By the way I just found a little model I made a half and forgot.
It's the small craft which was supposed to be in a hanger of the planet explorer I build before.

I guess I snatched the canopy parts from the kit parts of Snow Speeder. Those faceted style may not fit this time.

Oh, that totally needs to be finished and added to your Explorer display.

Thanks, Tom-san. After I finished present project, I think I'm going to touch up and repair all the model I've built before.
Then I'll try to finish this small craft.

It's really taking shape now!

I think a more rounded canopy would look good
Thanks- Analyzer-san.

I think something like the one of AH-1 Super Cobra would fit.

I've just got a call that my cousin passed away yesterday early morning.
She was 60 and had a cancer found a few weeks ago and was too late at that moment. We haven't met for so long years but we've just happened to had a chance to talk each other over phone a month ago. She was so fine and cheerful. She was a very capable person and managed a electric appliances store. Got a good husband and had hardworking son and daughter who is a mother of two grandchildren. She was so cute and we used often play together in a summer vacation when we were kids. Her 84 years mother had lost her husband only just a year ago. Tomorrow, we attend the funeral and it will be a painful reunion.

Sorry about talking my private thing.

Sorry for your loss

It's always hard losing people close to you
Sincere condolences to you and your family Katsu-San...

Thank you, Analyzer-san, joberg-san, my friends.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sounds like "capable" is a genetic trait in your family.

Thank you, Tom-san.

She was really capable. She was a straight A student of her high school while I was mediocre boy. If she went to the college and got the job at the big city, she would be some business person. Instead, she took over her father's store in a small town. She was a only child of her parents.

Well I gotta go. Funeral in a heavy rain.
Thank you very much again,
Katsu
