AA/Diamond $20 Star Trek Communicator: modified with metal parts

Back on topic.

I got my AA/DST Comm from blufive today. First, great and fast service from our fellow member. Thanks blufive.

And I LOVE it. I guess I got lucky, the moire spins great and is not nearly as loud as Vegas Comm was. Sound is clear. Very nice.

I don't undestand why some of the sounds are on there.

Some just aren't stuff you would hear over a Communicator. Oh well.

Best damn toy ever.

I got mine as well!

I've already added the extra clip and the TP to the speaker. My motor is not too bad either.

I'm having a little difficulty raising the moire disk and the wheels on the grille are crooked, so the comm will not 'flip' open. I'm kindof worried about bending them straight, I dont want to break it off or anything.

No, I was talking about the EE exclusive

If you put toilet paper between the speaker and the shell it dampens the sound and cleans it up a little.

I love mine too, right out of the box. The only thing that irks me to look at are the buttons, I really want to replace them with thunderjet hubs.

I know what you mean. For instance, Kirk says "Transporter room... ready to beam up."

Now that is what Kirk would SAY into his communicator, when he's TELLING the Transporter room that he's ready to beam up. :lol

But in the context of the toy, it seems like what they want you to think, is that Kirk is up on the ship, telling you that the transporter room is ready to beam you up. :rolleyes

"Bridge, this is the Captain" would be Kirk calling the bridge... but you're supposed to think he's telling you personally that you've reached the Captain on the Bridge. :unsure

Can anyone recommend a source for the Thunderjet hubs? I'm obviously new to the old school Trek accurizing game. :lol

Nice work TOSphaser!

So how did you get all those T-jet hubs to fit in there? They would fall throught the holes I would think. :confused

You are correct Oh Master Wah - Comm - holieo! they fall right through! :cry I glued some small squares of of sheet styrene on the inside......then drilled the centers out big enough for th hubs......this left a small lip and the hubs fit perfect.....slightly inset. :love

Thanks Phasepistol for having the guts to take this baby apart and walking us through it all! :thumbsup

Hey Mechamaniac Do a search on ebay for T-Jet Hubs? you should find some there!!?? :thumbsup

Got mine today. Took it out of the packaging, flipped the grille open...and it broke on one side where the wire frame attaches to the wheel. :angry I realize it's not a high-end collectible, but come on! Open it one time and it breaks?!?!? :confused

So now I'm awaiting return instructions from New Force Comics... :unsure

Broke or popped out?

Maybe it can be glued back in the hole?

Actually, I hadn't looked at it close enough to make that determination. Now that I've taken it back out of the packaging, I know it popped out. :redface

If New Force pays for return shipping, I'll probably just send it back; if not, I'll glue it back into place. Thanks for posting CessnaDriver! Was that the voice of experience?

Well, not yet, but someone else had mentioned the problem.
They said they were glued in and not soldered.
I expect with repeating flippings most of us might just have it happen sooner or later.
