He was hated from the beginning because he was a POS LIAR. As soon as he changed his tune on his website due to the glaring inaccuracies of his claims of the original mold which were pointed out here, mainly by Trooperexpert and Gino.
I was one of many I am sure who are thankful these people spoke when they did. I almost plunked down the $800+ for a helmet. Had I done so I would have been royally pissed that I had been fooled by this guy.
AA earned this 110% and he can burn for it.

However, I would have still been interested in his product if he had said it was 85% accurate and shown why.
Instead, we were told it was 100%, and created from the very sources as the screen used helmets and that didn't add up. That was the biggest distraction for me that made me back up and not spend the money for the helmet. If it had been described as something similar, with these changes, that would have been cool. You just inspect the product and decide if its good enough for your tastes at the going price, just like we did with the Master Replicas helmet. I wasn't crazy about the MR and I didn't buy it for that reason. I liked the SDS, but didn't buy it because the claims were fishy at best.
To this day there is so much mystery that none of us know what the heck he actually has. Original molds? Maybe. Altered? Who cares now. Tell it straight from the start.

Man, looking at his "sculpting" tools, I am going out to get me some clay and yellow sculpey stuff right now. Let's see...I have a hammer, a ruler, a screw driver, chisel and a cheesegrater. That's all I need, right sculptors?

To his credit, I've used all those tools before (cheesegrater = rasp), when I did some work in a block of (hardened) plaster. You rough out the shape from your material, as opposed to building it up from nothing.

The only one that loses is AA's ill-gotten financial gains...
As for the original molds, open your eyes... AA claims to have destroyed Liz's original clay work and whipped up a new sculpt all on his own that is a 1:1 match... What part of 'original' can anyone really believe, AA hasn't been able to keep his story straight from the start, do you believe for one second he even knows the truth any longer? I was going to post the other day when someone asked in regards to one side owning up that I suspect nothing less then a shift in subject grasping for straws rather then owing up...
As for not desecrating a deceased lady, sorry AA did just that he fought this case to the END, even after her identity and the clay picture was revealed he still claimed he did it, all the way to the end... Regardless of knowing previously he knew during the trial (and most likely prior) and still proceeded with the lies and claims...

The most unfortunate thing for me about this whole fiasco is that so many relationships I had with people whom I respected were so damaged when this whole SDS thing parted us like the red sea. And so unnecessarily. I remember coming a flick away from being banned over voicing my (non personal attacking) views on SDS. Not to mention being accused of being biased, having sour grapes, etc... None of which were actually true.
I'm thankful that I've been able to rebuild some of these relationships over time.
If anything, I hope that a lesson is learned to anyone who would squash dissenting voices just because it makes them feel uncomfortable or question something they are either emotionally or financially invested in.
Sadly, even as we speak on other forums, this sort of lesson falls on deaf ears.

Mic, sometimes I agree with what you type here. A lot of times what you post is VERY contrary to community building and comes off as snarky and rude. So, please step down from the cross. No one is going to string you up on it.

Dishonest about what? Matt has owned 2 ANH helmets over the years.
Anything he has produced over the years has true lineage to ANH. I'm not sure what Gino has but it looks spot on.
Yes AA was contacted, and yes it sparked AA to produce on his own. But AGAIN it was the same individuals who came forward and said "wait a minute, this isn't screen accurate by a long shot".
So what is your point defstar?

Yeah he's owned 2 helmets great he's also sold for large sums sets of his moulds( the only ones to touch the inside of an original ) off to people on the premise that he is retiring from making helmets or armour only to start making helmets yet again.
Every run of helmets he does is his very last limited run never to be seen again hell there's probably more people out there that have Matts last ever helmet than own AA's Hero or Stunt line.
Yeah he came forward casting doubt on AA's stuff AFTER he got cut out of making any money off them, coincidence ????? sudden desire not to mislead the community ?????
He then went and told tales to LFL to save his own skin about the very guy he instigated into making replicas getting rewarded for his snitching i might add.

As for Gino just take a look at his most recent actions with the TIE pillbox and hose threads for an example offering people a reward to identify the items and all of a sudden he amazingly manages to find these parts all by himself despite the multipage threads so of course nobody gets this reward that he was never going to honour anyway.
Hell he even had the neck to post he would be happy with the box i posted but of course it went from identifying the part to finding a source for a 30 year old disposable item.
Does that sound like the actions of an honest man ? :unsure

If you think all this is just about "the attitude of how people attacked him from day one just because he was making TK stuff" then you really do not have a clue.
He wasn't attacked because he made trooper armor. There was room in the community for everyone to sell their wares, if anything it would have lowered prices. More competition, better deals for the consumer. I have suits from more than one maker, I have no alliances.
He was questioned about why what he made from the supposed original undamage molds didn't match.
Questioned by people like me who purchased this resculpted recast innacurate rip off.
And if you were following from the beginning you would recall that the people complaining first were not the other trooper makers, it was us trooper fanatics that KNEW something was wrong the minute we got our helmets.
It wasn't until later the other TK makers saw what we saw and knew something was wrong.
We ALL, not just the TK makers tried to warn everyone when we were getting conflicting stories and the run around.
Unfortunately we had people like you and a few others deflecting and muddying up the situation just because you didn't/don't like TE or Gino and would do anything to attack them.
And guess what, looks like we were right all along and yeah the hobby will be better for it.
Thats what you get for lying to the ME, the prop collecting community, LFL and the courts.

But right here in this thread people are calling for others to eat crow, because they had an OPINION on how things would go. That's no way to build a community.

What we do see at the end here is who will call for others heads and who won't.
Some are here to just agrue and "be right". Props be damned.
