Man this has been a prop I’ve wanted for 25 years now. It took a long time to finally acquire. It is cast from an original stunt version, as you can see the crinkle in the casting in areas. I got this as a trade and knew the condition was rough, and it was!

I worked many hours cleaning it up. But some parts were just too far gone. For those, I drew them in CAD and printed them. I was very happy with them.

For the Radio Shack button, I went with real ones
Here is the final prop! I decided to do some low gloss mixed in with matte black for some realism and light weathering.

Ya, that looks like it was a lot of work to resurrect. Very satisfying to finally get one after so long!

Well done!

Thanks guys. It was a labor of love. It anyone wants any of the 3D files for one, just PM me.

I never would have noticed the details in the film. Looks like an M14 top plastic handguard on the stock, a pair of stacked Colt Commando handguards up top and an M203 handguard on the bottom, along with the chamber end of a 30mm Vulcan barrel for... well, the barrel.

Really neat assortment of parts cobbled together by the prop makers and a great salvage job on your part.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but WOW! Great salvage job J. The before and after pics make my head hurt. You have some bad ass talent my friend. I have always loved this prop. A 3D version just showed up on CG Trader and it looks awesome. These pics inspire me to print and build the 3D one.
