95 Homemade Judge Dredd costume ;)

Greetings citizens,

I thought with this costume being in existence for a couple of years now that it was time to add a thread about it on the RPF.
This is my Judge Dredd Stallone 95 costume. It has been upgraded for the last couple of months and I'm still working on it here and there recently. It is approx. 85% homemade with the armor being made from mostly foam and sports safety guards. (Soccer shin guards, Baseball catcher's guards, etc.) Below are some pics of the suit and the way it's changed over the last year Enjoy everyone and comments are always welcome

Looks nice! I saw on another thread you were wondering about the under suit. I'm currently in the process of my own '95 Judge. I'm making the suit from scratch. I bought a sleeveless lycra bodysuit and then color matched to buy a suit-type fabric that has some lycra in it for stretch. I think what you could do is take the chef's coat, which was a really good idea, and take out the buttons and add a zipper for that closure so it looks closer to accurate. In terms of the mandarin collar you can easily make one out of any fabric that matches the blue of your chef coat. For the yellow trim I used bias tape. Lots of places online on how to make a mandarin collar and do bias tape binding. For the corners I googled "mitered bias tape corners". I haven't done it yet but I'm also adding the zippers with yellow trim to the forearms. Your Dredd looks really nice though! I'm glad to see some '95.

Hey Harley,

Thanks for the kudos! Your Dredd top looks spot on to me! I like the sleekness of the material of the suit. The chef's suit was a good idea but it is bulky and not very form fitting. Perhaps making the zippered enclosure would help with this problem though. I am interested to see where you go with the lycra suit idea. I tried a spandex/lycra bodysuit before, but it didn't look right and I had to eliminate the collar completely. Have you started any work on your shoulder armor/eagle? I'd love to see it. I had some difficulty with that part of the costume. Your suit looks great so far though, keep up the great work!

Here's an updated post to this thread...I am currently revamping my Judge Dredd 95 suit for the upcoming comic con year! This will be the 4th revamp it has had since I made it...I included some pics of some of the various parts to the ensemble!! More pics to be posted soon

I chose the Stallone version because not many cosplayers have made this costume and it was a challenge

I will eventually join the bandwagon and make a 2012 Urban Dredd costume, but in the meantime, I want to be different,.....
