.45 Scale Shapeways Tie Fighter Pilot Helmet

I have always wanted a .45 scale Tiefighter Helmet to compliment my Riddel X-wing Pilot helmet.

I bought the MR Stormtrooper and Rebel Pilot helmets but lack the skills needed to trun them into a Tie Pilot Helmet

So I started to wonder if it would be possible to make the basic hollow shell via Shapeways and then you could install the internal parts from the MR helmets if you wanted to make them more realistic.

If this is possible is anyone up to the task?

I’m sure there would be a long line of people to get one.

These might help a bit:

Riddell: Detailed Pictures and Reviews

Unlicensed scaled helmets

I did that product line for Riddell back in the day.

It was my concept and then I ran the development of the product line and worked up the interiors. Its a shame that we never were able to go forward with the TIE and the others we were planning on doing.

I actually still have the original pattern parts and most of the painted samples like those in the pictures above for the TIE helmet here that I had the factory send back when the original Riddell line was canceled. There were 6 samples in varying stages of completion that I had. Three fully finished samples exist with fully complete interiors (I have one here, I sold one to a collector friend, and I've loaned one out to Rancho Obi-Wan)

The old Riddell molds were bought by MR then later by Gentle Giant. There were some new ones released... You can see them all on starwarshelmets.com.

I painted a master for the Wedge Helmet that MR did using the X-wing tooling then I actually designed up interior stuff for the Clone Helmet they did but I don't think it was in their budget to do the Clone Helmet interior.

I love those helmets. They kicked but.

I always thought it would be fun to make the rest of the BODY!

Can you imagine a BOBA in scale with the helmet? hmmmmmm

I have already made some of these, I have the mold ready and have done some for friends, I'll get some photos sorted out ASAP

That at would have been so great if they had gone for a tie production made unit, I would have bought one for my collection.

Here is a quick pic of my Riddel Vader helmet with my original carved helmet in grey on the far left, I have made some tweeks on this as time has gone by.
The other two are a couple of test ones I have cast from the mold and found someone to do stickers as well.
I have some cone shaped greeblies I was going to use for the ears but I think discs are probably a better look.
It was something I thought about giving a try a couple of years ago, the build thread is on the Star wars NZ website under mini helmet build.

The grey helmet on the left is my original one I carved out of builders bog over a couple of months and have still been playing with over a couple of years.
As you can see I have my Riddell Darth Vader helmet next to it for size comparison.
These two are a couple of rough casts, I haven't actually finished one for myself yet, funny that!.

Pretty cool badges2nz!
Too bad no company considered this scaled line worthy of continuing

I apologize for the thread hijack, but this is something I am interested in as well. I was looking for a mini x wing helmet that I could customize for my office. I bought the two different vinyl stormtrooper helmets and will paint them when the weather breaks here in the NE. I would buy one of the mini Riddel helmets, but I would hate to due that to one of the official ones.

Any help would be appreciated.
