UPDATE!

A little in-between project was completed today. In case I don't have my Mark III done in time for FanExpo at the end of August, I decided to build a backup tech - the Mind Control Device from Iron Man 3.

Here's a video of it in action: Mind Control Device

The first 3D modeled, 3D printed, painted and lighted piece of the armor. Shout out to Surreal Studios for his help on the [as expected] ultra-smooth finishing and paint job. More to come!

Thanks man. And no, never got it fixed. I printed this at my local University's new 3D Printing Lab, and they are actually buying it off me to put on display, and are letting me have a few free prints as payment. However, through a random act of kindness, I may have another 3D printing solution available to me very soon.

:thumbsup ........

Thanks buddy - got your emails, I'll respond shortly! :D

Your printing solution, would that be a secret for the time being or will you spill the beans. Lol...GM

It's a Fortus 360mc printer at the University of Waterloo! They opened a 3D print lab in February, and the cost is pretty reasonable. :)

Looks fantastic buddy! We do make a killer team!!!

Thanks Matt - yes we do. :)

Great work!

Thank you kindly.

How goes the HUD situation?

That portion is probably going to be an addition to the suit once I learn anything at all about designing an interactive visual interface.

Dammit Stark, now I have to spend all afternoon cleaning the drool out of my keyboard...

LOL - mission accomplished.

"The truth is...you're Iron Man". I can't wait to see this armour completely finished, it'll be amazing.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out too.

Hey everyone! Just want to inform you that I've finally created my own website:

www.therealtonystark.com

I have been updating progress on this suit on my blog posts there, so feel free to check it (and my other creations) out at your convenience.

However, I will post the latest pics here for those of you who could care less about my website, lol.

Here is the leg armor. This was the most complex portion of the suit, requiring a lot of pre-planning to ensure I can achieve all of the functionality intended.

There are multiple moving parts contained within the tight space between my leg and the armor. If you watch the Mark II suit up scene, you'll notice a series of flaps moving on the back of the calf.

I designed a custom mechanism that would enable the flaps on my suit to mimic the motion seen in the movie. This required the armor to be able to separate from the endotech underneath, and the mechanism that opens the "vent doors" to be contained on the armor piece that moves away from the endotech. So, it was a challenge.

I have managed to pull it off though, and the only things I still need to do are make the toe-section of the boot pivot, add the boot armor, and then enable the back half of the boot to clamp around my leg once I step into it.

Progress continues!
