2/3 Scale Rebel Trooper Blaster

I was in Big Lots today and saw something odd:

(click the link for a pic)

It's foam dart gun set with a gun that exactly duplicates the Hasbro Rebel Trooper Blaster, only at 2/3 the size. Weird!

If you want a head start on your kid's Halloween costume for next year and want a correctly scaled weapon, this would be it.

There are two versions. The one pictured has the silver finned muzzle painted black, while the box art shows a red one with the muzzle painted silver. The red ones in the store had a silver muzzle, but it was of a completely different design.

If it's the one where you pull and release a handle from the back to lanch the dart, it's a re-release of the same gun from about 10 years ago. I still have one somewhere that I bought for my son in a Kenner/Hasbro 'role play' set.

That would be it. I never knew something like that existed (apart from the newer almost full size version). I guess ownership of the molds reverted back to the factory that made them for Hasbro? It's not a Hasbro product, nor does the packaging mention Star Wars or Lucasfilm at all.

It has a belt clip on the end of the magazine ? It's a great 'smaller' replica- my kids just about wore theirs out.

No belt clip on the old one.

Thanks for the pics. Did it come black, or is that a repaint?

And what's up with all the brightly colored "weapons" anayway? How stupid are police nowadays that they can't distinguish a toy from a real gun? "Oh my god! That toddler has a Sterling sub machine gun!" Seriously.

BTW, the one I found is clearly NOT the same thing. Seeing the old one, I see there is no magazine and the scope mount is completely different. Like I said, it looks like they scaled down the newer Hasbro version as the details are virtually the same.

You're right. Totally different, and has nothing but hallmarks of the new blaster.
The old toy was gray out of the box, with lame silver "weathering."

Thanks again. Of course, now that I'm looking at it on a computer monitor instead of my TV at home, I can see it better.

There were none here at our Big lots. Too bad. If they were cheap, I could repaint for my kids deathstar trooper costume.

I broke down and bought a couple of them (one for my friend's son and one for?). Also, I've posted a comparison pic at the link above.

If you paint it up, can you post some pics?

Oops. I gave it to my friend's son before I even thought to take a picture of it. It basically ended up looking the same as the "full size" Hasbro, only the cocking handle is intact and I left it and the muzzle tip bright orange so it remains easily identifiable as a toy (I hope). Sorry.

I'm thinking about modifiying the second one I have into a custom Rebel sniper rifle.
