Still cant believe this car was driving around in my area all these years. not sure how I missed it when it popped up for sale either! Cannot wait to see the finished car, I'll be watching this thread with great interest in the months to come!

There is definitely a difference between intimidated, and determined. Or maybe stupidity. haha I think I have the later. Once this side was out, the other side was a piece of cake. At least I knew what I was getting into. lol

Really? I take it you are down in Arizona? I was surprised it was listed for so long. It was probably listed for 2 months, or so. I even told the seller that I couldn't be down to see it for 2 weeks. I was told, there is a lot of interest in this car, someone from Germany wants to come get it. The 2 weeks came, I went to see it, no one else ever came to look at it, I made a deal with the guy, and the rest is history. I just know the seller would beside himself if he saw the car now.

And because you didn't ask for it, here you go. This is probably something you'll never see done again with one of these cars. As I said previously, most builders just cut these panels out and off they go. No, no, not this guy.
You can see where I had melted the lead, so it would expose all the spot welds underneath. Then it was just a matter of grinding each individual spot weld with the Dremel. Popping the occasional weld on both the inside, and the outside. Then removing the panel entirely. And as I also said previously, these panels are ridiculously heavy.
Everything on this car is fine, 100%, American steel, baby!
Then lastly, just ground out that cross member piece to open the window area completely up.

I tip my hat to you!!! I wish I had the funds for this. I just got a "new" car, a Toyota Rav4, that I'm turning into my own Ectomobile, the Ecto-84.

Thank you very much! Haha, I also wish I had the funds. I just keep doing this in increments. Especially the lengths I'm going to to accurately replicate the original version of the car.

It's something I have already started! At the moment, I'm keeping it simple with prefabricated stuff, a lot of magnetized items. I have magnetic no ghost logos, magnetic led police lights, an off the shelf roof rack, and I got chrome bluetooth motor speakers that have the right look for the sirens. I run an hour-long loop of the siren through them! I do have a legit modern siren to install but am not really sure where to get that doneI also was able to get a vanity plate, however I needed to get creative with the spelling. I have some bigger plans for it, these are my first steps into a larger world. I think you have inspired me to start a little build thread for it.
Also, not to hijack your thread but since we are on the topic, here's a little inspiration for all of us Ghostbusters fans... my girlfriend and I made a little trip today...

That's great! There is absolutely nothing wrong with starting off small. In many ways I envy folks like you. I feel if you have the real car you have to replicate every little nut and bolt. I have very special plans that you will never see on another Ecto. All screen accurate things of course.
